There are people on this board that didn’t want to give up CJ for Jimmy Buckets...

Miami are like the Blazers team but plays defense because they have the Crowders and the Iguadala and Bam Bam

They are nothing like the Blazers. They are 10, maybe 12 deep with two way players with a cohesive offensive and defensive system.

Bam is the ideal big. Gets the job done, he works.

The last thing we want is for giannis to end up in GS or Dallas cuz of this debacle.

Spoelstra is about to get two of his counterparts fired in two consecutive series. Bud has no chance to keep his job after this performance. Wtf was that.

Actually, there were people who didn't want to give up CJ for Jimmy Butler for the same reason why Minnesota trading for him backfired big time. He was a FREE AGENT at the end of the year and could leave with little compensation.

But we don't want to let facts get in the way of a good story.

yeeeeesh...the Bucks were up 12 at the end of the 3rd but lose by 15. That's worse than game 7 Blazers in 2000

Not really true. Jimmy had two years on his contract left when he was traded to the Wolves. The Wolves traded him to the Sixers the next year after they realized he wouldn't re-sign.

The difference between us and the Wolves (and the Sixers for that matter) is that we have Dame.

So we cash strap the franchise and extend a guy that plays zero defense and shows up every 5-6 games. Gotcha.

As a small market franchise, these are the risks you take like OKC did with Paul George. George was a free agent and made it known that we was headed for LA. OKC took the risk and he ended up resigning there.

what in the literal and actual fuck does that have to do with anything??

seriously, what the fuck??

And that got there where? Sure they got a SHIT ton of 1st round draft picks over the next, but they got out of the first round of the playoffs exactly zero times in the time they traded for PG.

Looks like someone didn’t get the facts at all to tell his good story.

Wow. The Bucks had better hope Giannis is built like Dame.
Im sure Dame is scratching his head now as he probably was rooting for Brew Town, another 1 star small market.

and there were people who didn't want to give up CJ for Paul George (Olshey one of them) because he could walk. But he signed with OKC to partner with Westbrook. Maybe, just maybe, Portland needs to bet on Dame and his ability to connect with a player. OKC resigned PG13 and the result ended up with them having Gallo, SGA, and 5 extra 1st round picks. Minnesota made a bad bet, OKC made a good bet. Toronto made the same bet as the other two teams and it brought them a championship. Why would you assume Portland's bet would be bad when there are two good examples?

but by all means, Portland should keep playing it safe, wasting Dame's prime, getting ultimately humiliated for 7 straight years in the playoffs. Play it safe by making a non-all star level player untouchable in trade discussions for all-NBA talent. Yeah, that makes great sense

honestly, I don't believe Portland would be in a worse situation than they are right now if they essentially gave up CJ for a year of PG13 or Butler or Kawhi. They are going nowhere as is. At least the alternative might offer a chance at better draft picks and they for sure would have a lot more flexibility than they have now with CJ's contract throttling flexibility

Well, those 1st round picks are massive assets that give you flexibility to improve.

Both POR and OKC got bounced in the 1st round, but POR has the highest payroll in the league with not many options to improve. OKC, on the other hand, has a lot of young talent and 1st round picks to improve their team.

That is the literal and actual fuck.

So basically they'll be young and mediocre (because it's not like they're lotto picks) for a while. good for them.

I’ll take young and mediocre with a great chance to improve over old and mediocre with very limited chance to improve while wasting away the prime years of your generational superstar.

But that’s just me.

Looks like someone didn’t get the facts at all to tell his good story.

the twolves traded away Kris Dunn, Zach LaVine and Lauri Markkanen (Dunn and LaVine were not on par with CJ offensively at the time and Markkanen wasn't even in the league yet) for a 69 game rental of Butler, and then traded him because he was a free agent at the end of the 2019 season and pretty much said "yeah, not re-signing suckas".

Yep, that definitely proved your point that "no one" wanted to trade CJ for Butler (which probably isn't even true).

they won 9 more games in the regular season than Portland, and 2 more in the playoffs, and came really close to knocking off Houston and advancing to the 2nd round

whose mediocrity is better, theirs or Portland's?

Or is your post in reference to loyalty? Then yeah the bucks better hope that Giannis is loyal too. I Think he's gone next season

Strange how you only show up when the team is losing. Where were you for that 6 month stretch anyways?

Oh Thats right, you weren't logged on. L.

We're talking about the future, not right now. Because one could argue that a healthy Portland team finishes with a better record than the Thunder did.

I’ve been around and was dealing with an illness called Covid-19. Maybe if you were actually moderating you would know.
