assuming LMA, Wes and Rolo are gone, whats our next move? who's left to target. i love some of the thrifty signings we have done so far, Al and especially Ed, but we still need wings. Al is more of a backup, so id like to see the Blazers make a big bid to get Tobias Harris. I don't think he's worth max, but i wouldn't mind overpaying for him anyway since i think that would be a great fit. and after the cap goes up he would be worth close to the current max, as long as he continues to grow.

I'm not even sure who's left at this point, but I think we've sufficiently stocked up on bigs. We need wings.

At this point, spending more cap space is stupid. If anything, they already have too much money committed to journeyman level players.

They need to add 2 more impact level players just to get back to where they were a year ago...and there are none available.

I would try to snag DeRozan through trade and maybe sign Gerald Green.

Dame/CJ
DeRozan/Hendo
Aminu/Green
Leonard/Vonleh
Plumlee/Davis

I would love to see Gerald Green in a blazers uniform, incredibly athletic and a great shooter. Only thing that needs work is his defense...

Gerald green will never be a blazer so long as Olshey is gm I can guarantee it. I like him but no way.

Good idea.

"Hey Toronto please give us your allstar for Tim Frazier and Chris Kaman"

Step 2 is trade for LeBron and Anthony Davis.

Spending cap space is fine... just have to be smart and careful with it. Then those players will be assets.

Free agents I'd target;

Sergio Rodriguez - Europe age29
Marco Belinelli - SAS age29
Corey Brewer - HOU age29
Wesley Johnson - LAL age27
Kosta Koufos - MEM age26
Kevin Seraphin - WSH age25
Bismack Biyombo - CHA age22

PG Cory Joseph - SAS age23 (restricted)
PG Pat Beverly - HOU age26 (restricted)
SG KJ McDaniels - HOU age22 (restricted)

Tobias Harris is a waste; Orlando will easily match a max offer. I listed targets in my post above.

Actually, I would probably include CJ. The rumor was that they want to clear space. Kaman and CJ would work.

Players I'd potentially target for in a trade if we can't get value back from sign and trades for our own free agents.

Mario Chalmers - MIA age29 $4.3
Jeff Green - MEM age28 $9.2
David Lee - GS age32 $15.5
Taj Gibson - CHI age30 $8.5/9.0
Joakim Noah - CHI age30 $13.4
Roy Hibbert - IND age28 $15.5

I'd primarily be looking to trade them again during the season or sign and trade for value next summer.

That was when they needed cap space to sign Wes or another free agent. Why would they want to clear space now after free agents have all signed? No chance they are interested.

Has there been a single big S&T this summer? Under the new CBA the S&T appears to be dead. None of those guys is as valuable as LMA and we couldn't S&T him.

You might be able to swing a deadline deal - but it would likely mean taking on an even worse contract just to grab a draft pick in the 20s.

That wasn't why they wanted to do the deal at all. Did you read the original article? It was because they didn't want to pay him max money next summer when he could make crazy dollars.

Best case scenario right now would be getting Harris for the max, signing Gerald Green and trading Kaman for Hibbert or Lee. You hope Lee or Hibbert return to all star form and then you could have 3 borderline all stars next year. If they don't workout you shed their salary after the year and another young piece in Harris to build around.

Lillard / McCollum
Henderson / Green
Harris / Aminu
Leonard / Davis
Hibbert / Plumlee

That's an athletic and deep bench. Wouldn't be as good as last year but oh well.

I wish they made a deal with the Kings involving some sort of sign and trade for Mathews/McLemore.

Lillard
McLemore
Aminu
Davis
???

But genies aren't real so i'd never get my wish...

I really like the idea of trading for Josh McBob. Great passer, great screener, pretty darn good shooter, and total scrap-boy (Remember that whalloping of LeBron?). He's on a 5mil contract and Miami could use the space. Meyers Legend and a pick is all it would take

Does that invalidate my opinion...? Meyers strangely is very tradable at the moment because of his shooting and athleticism, and a 2nd rounder or two never hurt anyone.
And finding playing time behind Bosh and Whiteside isn't going to be easy for Spoelstra, and Micky Arison can't be so committed to winning as to want to pay the man to come off the bench when he could have the Legend spacing the floor in his place for next to nothing

What Fez in trying to say in as succinct manner as possible is:
Biebs >> McBob
1st rounder > McBob

Biebs + 1st rounder >>> McBob.

and he's right.

What are you trying to say?

Leonard and a pick for McBob would the worst trade ever.... Leonard is so much better...

Go back and watch that OK Charlotte team from two years ago and tell me McBob isn't the best player on that team. Doin all the little things

Also man, Meyers just has no basketball sense... he looks so lost so often. All the talent in the world though if he can actually put it together

Javale McGee...

They were swept... McRoberts is on okay bench piece on a good team but you don't trade your potential PFoTF for a guy like that...

Did you watch our series against Memphis? Leonard was our best big man....

Biebs showed a lot of improvement during the latter stages of the season. He and CJ were probably our most effective players against Memphis in the playoffs.

Regardless, let's be more clear here. McBob has reached his ceiling and he's only OK. You don't trade high-ceiling young players for that.
