Batum for #4 pick?

I suggested this a few weeks ago. Most of the people on here don't think batum is enough to move to #4. Batum would be great in the triangle offense though

Would do this is in the bat of an eye - definitely draft Winslow.

Id definitely do it if Russell falls to 4. He and Lillard would be an amazing backcourt. He could start at SG and frees up money we would otherwise gamble on Wesley's health

Our only hope is the Orlando pick.

And we likely would have to include CJ with Batum to get them to bite.

Everyone posting this rumor/speculation does it in a different thread ...

Batum and the #23 won't get us into the lottery right now. I wonder if CJ's stock is high enough to package with the #23 to get into the late lottery? I think that's a more realistic scenario.

it only happens on Fantasy Island

It might be possible if we can get Afflalo to opt in, trade him for a pick (Cavs for Haywood and 24?) Then trade Batum, 23, 24 and a lotto protected 2018 1st for 4th and take on Calderons salary.

What about CJ, Batum, and 23 for 4 and I'd Russell falls? Could then play him behind Wes and Dame and search for a legit SF. If LA returns were contenders and if not we got the backcourt of the future with Russell and Lillard complimenting each other perfectly. With Meyers and around $50M in cap space who knows how good of a young core we could assemble

I personally think Nic alone would get you to #8 or lower. Just a feeling. With the pick, it might get you to 5 or lower.

For those of you that think Batum is worth the 4th pick, why not just keep him? It's because he's not worth the 4th pick.

I think Batum could fetch you 8 and 8+23 could possibly get you 4.
Batum + 23 would get you 8 and CJ + 8 would certainly get you 4

I would not give up much to move into the late lottery. Is there really that much difference between 23 and 13 in terms of talent?
It seem to me that it plateaus out at that point.

I think Batum+23 could get us Meeks, Tolliver+ 8. We'd have to take on those undesirable contracts (Meeks 2/12 and Tolliver 1/3) but they aren't terrible players.

Then we could probably flip Kaman, Crabbe + 8 for #4 and Calderon (not a great contract either but hey, what can you do?)

Draft Porzingis.

So basically Batum, Kaman, Crabbe and 23 for Calderon, Meeks, Tolliver and 4.

Huge risk. I doubt I'd do it unless LA was gone for sure.

I'm not giving away Batum for the #4 pick. I have informed Olshey that he is to hold out for #3. We don't live in the sewer around here.

Also, while I'm normally lottery driven, IF Portland keeps Aldridge, they need veteran defensive stoppers, not lottery guys. Now IF Aldridge does indeed leave, then the best way to find a replacement is in the lottery

MM captured my thoughts on the subject. By the way, welcome back.

For those of you that don't think batum gets us anywhere in the lottery, may I remind you of a time when we dealt Telfair and Theo Ratliff for the #7 pick to eventually get Brandon Roy?

A sampling of #4 picks over the past few years:
Aaron Gordon
Cody Zeller
Dion Waiters
Tristan Thompson
Wesley Johnson

So let's all assume there'll be a surefire hall-of-famer, shall we?

That was one of the great trades in NBA history. Are we likely to repeat that? To emphasize how great it was, here's the top 20 of that draft:

1. Toronto Andrea Bargani
2. Chicago LaMarcus Aldridge
3. Charlotte Adam Morrison
4. Portland Tyrus Thomas
5. Atlanta Shelden Williams
6. Minnesota Brandon Roy
7. Boston Randy Foye
8. Houston Rudy Gay
9. Golden State Patrick O'Bryant
10. Seattle Saer Sene
11. Orlando JJ Reddick
12. New Orleans Hilton Armstrong
13 Philadelphia Thabo Sefololsha
14. Utah Ronnie Brewer
15. New Orleans Cedric Simmons
16. Chicago Rodney Carney
17. Indiana Shawne Williams
18. Washington Oleksly Pecherov
19. Sacramento Quincy Douby
20. New York Renaldo Balkman

There's a lot of talk of trading Batum to get the #7 pick. Imagine this draft is like the one above. If you're very lucky, you get Rudy Gay. Who is a gunner who makes every team he's on worse. But by all means, assume this draft is like 2003.

Blame the scouting teams for those picks. Lillard, Leonard and McCollum have been excellent picks by the blazers in the lotto of past years, no?

Man what a shitty draft
