Beavs

For all the money the ducks have i'd think you could have bought some legit championships by now. A school that was jealous of the beavs baseball success they started their own program and took recruits away, yet, the beavs still were able to get a national championship.

Nice of you to admit that baseball isn't a legit championship, cat!

Oregon money isn't like Texas and SEC money, as you know. Oregon sure seems to win their fair share of Pac12 championships, wouldn't you agree?

Beavs baseball program is legit, much better than Oregon's, I tip my cap to them. They don't have Oregon dominated in many other areas though.

Pac-12 championships are a step above a participation trophy. National championships are where it is at. It's like the Blazer fans wanting to win our division. Cool! But who cares if you can't win the trophy.

If P12 championships are so easy to get, why do the Beavs have so few in the last 20 years?

in keeping with good-news-Saturday for the Ducks, the Lady Duck softball team boat-raced and run-ruled the Beavers, 14-6

Lol. We have three National championships out of baseball, football and basketball. How many do you have? Or are pac 12 championships more important than national titles in sports that matter?

Just looking the ducks have 34 national championships.

Again, I'm nothing but complimentry of the Beavs baseball program, it was fantastic under Casey. Lumping baseball in with football and basketball seems silly as it's nowhere near the national draw as the big 2. Baseball is much closer to softball, volleyball, WBB, and T&F.

I would rather win national titles than conference titles. I would also rather win conference titles than finish in the bottom half of the conference. I'm not a believer that all teams outside of the champion should be praised equally. To be consistently good is very much an accomplishment to hang your hat on; Beav baseball would be an example of that.

In baseball, basketball and football?

While baseball, basketball, and football are the most popular national professional sports, in college there are a big two of sports and everything after football and basketball are secondary.

This is easily supported by tv contracts and ratings. You don't see college baseball on weekend national tv. Like track, like soccer, like baseball, these sports are on The Ocho.

Even the Little League World Series gets a better TV slot than championship college baseball.

While I'm proud of the national championships OSU got in baseball I would put them on par with the excellence the UofO track team has earned.

I mean if you want to include tummy sticks championships they probably have some of those too.

Yes. Baseball, football and basketball are the ones that count. Oregon state has won racquetball championships. Yay!
Pretty sure Track and Field is a big sport. I mean I know Oregon State doesn;t even have a team, but pretty hard to discredit Oregon's Track and Cross Country programs.

Right now, no. Historically the Beavs were legit as the orange express in basketball. Got us beat in football for sure. But who cares if you can't win the big game. Ducks had two chances. Good for them. I don't hate the ducks. I grew up a ducks fan. Went to osu and ducks fans coming to corvallis quickly changed my mind rooting for the ducks.

Likewise, I don't hate the Beavs, been to many of their games.

I also think the Utah Jazz and Indiana Pacers franchises are on a totally different level than the Bobcats/Hornets or Magic, even though none of them have won a championship. I think the Heat had a better season last year than the Blazers, even though neither won a championship. It's not binary for me.

I agree, but using Cats criteria, he's only participation trophy worthy?

I hold him much higher than that.
Pretty much. Great coach. Just like sloan with the jazz. Nobody cares that they lost to the bulls in the finals.

I guess we all have our own criteria. Mine is slightly more complex than yours; doesn't make it right or wrong.

If Beavers Football finished last in the Pac 12 for 10 years straight while winning the natty in baseball for 10 years straight if one of those sports had to be cut OSU would easily pick baseball.

1. Football
2. Basketball
3. Every other sport

Galen rupp kicked all of our asses in high school. Still rooted for him in the Olympics even though he was a duck. Root for mariota. Freddie jones. Dennis dixon. Luke ridnour. Kellen clemens. Was a massive joey harrington fan. Don't hate the school. Dislike the fans.

100%... Baseball goes in with all the "other sports". No way it's in the same category as Football and MBB.

They surely wouldn't cut baseball over every other sport. Baseball would be third. Completely fine with that.

I hate when Duck fans have this take about the Huskies, USC, etc. 99.9% of fan bases are totally chill, so why do we hate the entire "fan base" due to the vocal minority?

Baseball would be 3rd at OSU (because of their past success), but it's not a clear #3 for other schools. It's just another non-revenue sport.

It isn't a vocal minority to the rest of us. Ducks fans remind me of lakers fans.
