Disagree - he lost a lot of trust with the way he exited. Its not that he left, it was skipping practices and not working to win games while he was still the coach. Time to go in a different direction for both sides.

Maybe eventually he could come back but right now is way too soon. Has nothing to do with his abilities as a coach.

I'd rather give Mike Riley the job if we're bring back a former coach. Not that I want to do that, but he always was fully committed to the Beavers. Trying to get Smith is like desperately chasing an ex girlfriend who left you.
 
Sometimes people realize the grass isn't always greener.

The problem is it appeared that he kind of gave up at the end of the season when he knew he was leaving even though we were good.

If there is any truth to that, I wouldn't want him back. I do think he is a fine coach though.

Yeah, if you don't care about winning as a program I get it. But I don't see them landing as good of a coach...
