Behind the Blazers Locker Room Door: San Antonio

Sounds like guys hanging out in locker rooms to me. You put more than four men in a room together for extended periods of time, and with every new guy who enters the average IQ drops 5 points, until there's nothing left but fart and penis jokes. Why fight it?

I've noticed that on this board. I bet there are men who would be fine in a one on one conversation, but get them in a testosterone gang and they all have to prove they hate the WNBA, Violet Palmer, and gays.

He's the second-to-last guy you choose in a pickup game--bad but fun to be around.

No, he'd be the first. How many pick up games have any NBA players in them?

BTW, who is last?

My Webster Homerism knows no bounds, and I think that just about everyone will be very surprised when he gets on the floor.

If you thought Travis was a good deal contract (as I do), Webs' is even better, b/c it locks him up for less than MLE well into his prime.

I don't see him being traded until well after he proves he's not a help to this team, and has stagnated on his growth curve. I haven't seen any of that yet.

Not only that, I think he'd be very hard to move simply because he's missed a whole year with a foot injury; team's are going to need more than a physical to trade anything of value for him (unless he's just a throw-in).

My God, you are bigoted.

I know this will sound wierd to you, but a testosterone fest can actually be fun and a therputic in a way. To be able to go to a forum and post and bond and not have to worry about being politcally correct . . . basically saying things without always having to check yourself . . . to me, is not so bad and I find those posters fine both in one on one conversations and in a testosterone gang.

I wonder if Webster has a trade value?

Webster has a nice contract that will allow Portland to send someone that seems like he has some kind of a value for a more expensive player thanks to being under the cap. It is not going to be a huge value by himself - but as a potential guy and salary shedding mechanism - he fits the bill (Not that I have any clue what is going to happen as far as trades are concerned - but I am pretty certain Nic is our SF of the future and Travis's clutch mind-set and closeness with Roy make him pretty likely to stay put - making Webster the odd-man out.

You've identified my problem. I never check myself before I say (or write) things. I probably should; it would make me less abrasive.

Yeah, but if a brillo pad loses its abrasiveness, the only thing left is poor-smelling useless fuzz that can't function for what it was created to do.

Now that you mention it, :dunno:

I'm sure there are men everywhere who would fit your criteria outside of those who post on this board. I'm guessing there are also some women in the world who hate sports, male authority figures, and straight people to varying degrees.

That said, I don't really have a problem with Violet Palmer other than she, like every ref, makes bad calls from time to time. Steve Javie, on the other hand, I do hate.

I can't remember the last time I thought about the WNBA. Does Seattle still have a team? I know Portland lost theirs a while ago.

I don't think of people as being "gay" or "straight" when I know them. I think of them as a friend. If I don't know them, I could care less what their sexual orientation is, with the large exception of "pederast".

Now, I'm off again to the testosterone fest on the OT board. :)

Good point . . . Webster could be that piece where you are getting some talent back while shedding salary.

My new flavor of the day . . . Parker. Duncan is to the point he can't play back to back, Manu has months of recovery to go to see if he can come back and be the same player. San Antonio is not exactly killing it at the box office and Parker's not in love with San Antonio (according to the moring show).

Or maybe Gay. Gay is due for a big contract extention. I was thinking Travis (because it's Memephis). But Travis and Webster at a much less cost than Rudy. I know Rudy might be a pipe dream, but with Mayo and Gasol and maybe Conley looking like they will comand big bucks . . . can they give Rudy a near max contract he will be looking for?

Anyways, like you said, maybe teams are willing to downgrade to cut salary.

I just do not see Rudy Gay as the target. He is not an effective player if the offense does not run through him (which it will not in Portland), he is not a great defender. We basically get from Travis what we would get from Gay if he was here - but without the drama of being a star that does not get a lot of touches and at a reduced cost.

I still think that the targets are either a stud PG or prospect if this team is not certain Bayless can make the leap - or/and a backup banger PF.
