I just told you what I would do. I don't agree with your strategy or your evaluation of Simmons, so yeah. But none of this matters since it's neither one of us making the decision.

That's exactly what Neil Olsheys burner account would say!!!

I don't see any way Simmons goes back to Philly. That thing got real ugly. Morey's got to make himself look good, asking for a so-called haul. But that situation is potentially toxic.
He's going to make himself look worse when he doesn't get it.

Oh man, did not catch Dame's comment here.

I don't think Dame has anything to do with that meme post (maybe I'm wrong?). It looks like whoever posted that is imagining Dame's and Terrence's response?

huh? that was dame commenting on the post

From RealGM. This is Abbott’s fault for Dame being thought of as gettable:

“The Philadelphia 76ers continue to seek Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Ben Simmons and are not prepared to settle for CJ McCollum.

There were suggestions this week that the 76ers were warming to the idea of trading for McCollum, who would give the team perimeter shot creation in the halfcourt.

Based on the reported trade offers the 76ers made leading up the draft, they are in no rush to resolve the future of Simmons.”

No. Abbot did not set the bar for some fairytale trade. You’re giving some Twitter guy way way too much credit. This is ridiculous. It’s Morey.

Abbott’s tweet was was reported as news on almost every news source. Dame had never before been thought of as gettable. Now Sixers are holding out on us.

Listened to this Jason Dumas fellow (he's a Philly guy who works for a Bay Area news network): https://www.audacy.com/957thegame/l...s&utm_campaign=rewind&utm_medium=all#schedule

"The situation with Ben in Philly is getting worse by the day. It's like a marriage beyond repair at this point. He doesn't want to go to a bad situation, he's seeing the talk about Portland and Toronto, and Ben being the socialite that he is... is open to the Cali team. Embiid has been trying to reach out to him and he isn't returning his calls and all communication is through his agent. He doesn't want to return to the Sixers-- the damage is done."

uh what? socialite? first of all, Ben has no say on where he goes. Second of all, any guy who wants to be on the scene would love Tdot.

So we're now the Siberia of the NBA..... :sigh:

i think that's a tired narrative.

And this guy called Ben Simmons a "socialite." Why? Cuz he used to data Kardashian sister? He's hardly on his social media to begin with, while Dame is in every other ad on national games, playing in the Olympics, was just in a massive WB movie, and has one of the most successful signature shoes among NBA players. This Dumas dude is just pushing nonsense to the Bay Area radio listeners, not much a do about anything.

But the story on Ben is slowly changing. I think the situation becomes untenable and CJ + picks might be the best Morey gets.

The Phil Beckner thing was shamelessly transparent and anyone that knows Dame knows how meaningless it is. But Neil signing a Klutch guy on day 1 of free agency, and already having Nurk on the roster ready for an extension? I'd be more cognizant of how those decisions impact what Ben/Rich Paul think of Portland.

If he's a socialite, that means it's more important to him than winning.

I still think a lot of stuff we're reading in the news is just Neil and Morey doing some kind of psychological warfare.

Morey is leaking all these absurd trades in an effort to increase Simmons' value after his coach and star player threw him under the bus.

Neil is leaking all these reports about us running it back because he' trying to convince everyone that Dame isn't on the ledge. It doesn't seem to be working because everyone is looking at our offseason and thinking "sure bud."

No way. Maybe we weren't able to pull the big free agents, but players would still play here. Hell, Barkley wanted to come here. I remember rumors that CP3 wanted to play with Roy. So now magically with Neil we're some shit hole?
Barkley was like 30 years ago.
But, just last year harden was rumored to be interested here, same as cp3 with Roy.

His refusal to expand his game or to work with team trainers or shooting consultants in the offseason seems to suggest the same.

I'm starting to come around to the perspective of those on the board who are opposed to dealing for him. I mean, he'd be the most talented teammate Dame's ever had, but would it make a difference if he doesn't have the heart necessary to maximize that talent?

Yeah, that is a weird way for Simmons to be a "socialite" or whatever. I don't know if I've ever even heard him speak, let alone seen him in a commercial.

For being in the Bay Area, I'm not sure that Steph or Klay are in any more commercials (etc) than Damian is. And they've won multiple titles and SHOULD be more recognizable, etc.

it's lazy thinking. And Toronto is one of the most happening social scenes among the NBA landscape.

I’m willing to push in all our chips to put him next to Dame under Billups. I have faith the two of them can get his head on straight. If anyone in the league can it’s Dame and Billups. I’m open to Siakam for cheaper, but if Simmons is our sole shot at a huge upgrade you do it. Otherwise, we might just “run it back” and surely THAT is a worse proposition.
