Oh no! We can't make Phili fan upset, thats the city of brotherly love! They've nothing but hugs and kisses for their sports teams...

I would rather have Siakam than Simmons.
That's safe, I guess but Simmons is already the better facilitator, has a better handle, is quite a bit bigger, is worlds ahead as an athlete and defender. So even though shooting is a big part of the game and we know Siakam is a pretty good shooter and Simmons has been horrible. I would take what Simmons is now over Siakam. When considering potential and coupling that with what I just said about how they compare now, I think it would be a really bad move to take Siakam if you had the choice between the two.

Sixers are intentionally asking for wayyyyy too much in an obvious negotiating tactic that is ridiculous and won’t come close to happening. The league knows it and thinks it’s ridiculous as well. Sixers fans will be disappointed.
The tactic is far too transparent and I hadn't really thought about the fact that they're setting up their fans for a huge let down.

Siakam is a marginal all-star. He's already 27. He'll likely get better, but the gap between where his is and his ceiling is pretty small. He's better than CJ and he has length and is a wing. But he's not so much better that he becomes that 2nd elite player to pair with Dame....IMO

on the other hand, Simmons, with all his warts, is on another tier than Siakam. Yes, he might be broken and will never solve his personal riddles. But if he does he's an elite player, and would seem to have the potential to mesh well with Dame. Portland is in a bind because of Olshey's mismanagement. There probably aren't many avenues to salvage the Dame era. The chances for Simmons to be an answer might not be great, but they are a fuck of a lot better than almost all the other ideas. Sure, there's risk, but there's also some pretty visible avenues to high reward

Only Olshey would use "ideal vehicle" to describe draft night.

Maybe i'm reading too much into this.....

My biggest takeaway is that Simmons also wants out and the situation in Philly is untenable.

Hell yea he wants out. That whole organization wants his head and probably can’t stand him anymore. Why would he want to be there…

I'll believe it when I see it:

Of course they hope to trade him tonight. They're asking for a king's ransom. If they move him tonight, that means they fleeced the recipient.

Most likely, he doesn't get moved tonight, and Morey has to actually take a reasonable deal. Of course, it only takes on idiot...

Yeah, I guess when you're saying "hope" you can't be proved wrong.

I just think this means what I've been saying. Morey has been seemingly pie in the sky about Simmons for a while and now the demand will come down until it reaches the most he can possibly get that helps the Sixers get better since they are already contenders and makes Morey feel like he didn't get completely fucked by what Doc and Embiid said after the playoff exit.

I think Simmons will be on a new team tonight and I hope it's here. Neil is in a position where he might have to overpay. CJ plus every future draft consideration we can give would probably get it done... That would make us far better next year especially if it is the difference in signing Norm. Right now I'm short sited because we have one of the best players in the league and do not have complementary pieces around him. We put all of our eggs in the offense basket and it hasn't come close to paying off so getting a guy who is arguably the best defender in the league, who also has great offensive skills, is worth the overpay in future draft picks.

The problem that I have if Simmons goes tonight and we don't land Siakam or Grant, I see three way trades in places where CJ is probably valued to be harder after the draft.

I think the 76ers "hope" to trade Simmons tonight because they'd love to have a high pick now rather than lower picks in future years

Problem with getting Simmons right now is because Philly thinks they have a chance at Lillard in the deal. This is Henry Abbott’s fault.

Morey is asking Ferrari Prices , for a Corvette.

For now, I still think that situation is untenable and he's just posturing. He's using a drastic and in my opinion stupid tactic to drive Simmons value up. In the end he'll take the offer that helps his team the most and adds the most value at the same time.
