In fairness, he is right about the FT shooting. If Simmons was a better FT shooter he would be the deadliest drive and dish slasher in the league. His 3 pt shooting wouldn't even be a subject of discussion.

Seems that not only Rivers through him under the bus but also hasn't been playing him the best way.

I think I would fire Rivers as he really was out of line with the statements he made which as hurt the team, potentially. Plus I feel he's one of the most overrated coaches there is.

So is Simmons when you compare him to people of his size. He is a freak. Damn near the same size a giannis but way more mobile.

ft shooting might be the easiest fix in the sport. It just takes discipline and dedication. There are many many players who started out poor and improved thier ft percentage as thier careers moved on.

so to hang a hat on one thing and say its too much of a flaw is not accurate in my book.
You keep pointing to one year of playoffs when there are stats showing he CAN be an elite offensive player in the right system.
You keep referencing the playoffs as a be all end all as the foundation of your position when several people noted games where he played great.
He is 24. The room for improvement is too great to take a pass on a player who is elite at most skills.

Of course he can. It's all mental and Lillard is the best leader in sports. Billups was a great leader in his day as well. People act like Simmons was frozen in carbonite after game 7 in ATL and that's the full measure of who he is forever. I remember Dame getting slapped vs. the Pels and looking really questionable. I'm not saying Simmons has close to Dame's mentality, he doesn't, I'm saying you can have a horrific series if you're a great player and then use that as motivation to improve especially with guys like Beckner or Dame himself in your ear. Simmons is already a great player and his flaw has been highlighted, italicized, written in bold, and underlined three times. He knows it's the flaw and with Dame and Billups he can for sure improve in this area.

Unlike the folks myopically focused on ATL he knows how good Simmons is and I'm guessing he's absolutely horrified how low Simmons value has gotten. Simmons has a serious, but highly correctable flaw in his game, in fact, it's the single easiest skill to develop in the NBA unlike say passing, defense, or ball-handling all of which Simmons is ELITE at.

He's not really an Aussie. His dad is an American basketball player that played his pro career in Australia. They moved back here for his high school ball and he played college ball here as well. I think it's a case of him never getting comfortable with his shot because he knows that he's better getting to the hoop or setting up a teammate. So he never gets warmed up and when he has to shoot at the line he's shooting cold every time. I also think a change of scenery will change how he looks at the game and next season, wherever he is, he'll shoot better from the line and shoot more threes and therefore hit more.

OK, I really disagree with that. Simmons could improve his FT shooting with practice. No matter how hard Dame works, he will never grow taller or grow a longer reach. Apples to oranges. Yeah, I just can't buy what you're trying to sell. CP3 is shorter, has a smaller wingspan and is slower than Dame but he's mastered his defense, while Dame most definitely has not. CP3 personally transformed the Suns defense he didn't and hasn't depended on coaches or schemes. So again I'll tell you, most players work on and play towards their strengths. It's just the way it goes. I'm not saying that Simmons can't, shouldn't or won't work on and get much better at shooting (especially free throws) but he's not the only player to work on what he's good at and get better at what he's already good at while stagnating in the places where he's weak.

I tend to agree with a couple of your points: Dame/CJ will go nowhere together except into retirement without a championship. And, Olshey will never trade CJ. So then 2 + 2 = fire Olshey

Please no Ben Simmons here. The man has no motivation in basketball outside of getting paid. It looks like he has put no effort into improving at all just look at his shooting percentage from the free throw line and his refusal to shoot. On top of that he clearly would hate it in Portland and doesn't care about winning ever. I agree that moving CJ for a better fit is the right move for us but this would be a disaster.

If all he cares about is getting paid, then why is he sitting out training camp?

Most teams/players won't win a title. Doesn't mean it isn't fun to watch them win a bunch of games and sometimes have a "chance" of winning. I'd much rather ride out Dame/CJ than be a Kings fan or a Wolves fan. They don't have any fun. That said, I'd love to get KAT.

I dont known that Nurk would get any offer over the full MLE even with a good season. Few teams have cap space and even fewer want a center. I can't find a team that makes sense.
