Where did I laugh about your grandpa dying? My step-dad died on 12/30. My dad died before we had the kids, so this is the grandpa my kids lost. I apologize for somehow making fun of your kids' grandpa dying, if you took it that way.

I'm sorry for your loss, and offer what little advice or help that I can since I've experienced a lot of death with parents and grandparents in my life.

I believe in delegating. The reason you have kids is so they can keep count of your little great-grandpunks. I have no idea the number of my descendents.

I thought it was great that my kids never went to daycare and instead spent the day with family.

My grandparents watched us a lot. My parents both worked. It was great and provided great memories. Now my parents do the same thing for my sister's kids.

Correction: I wasn't arguing whose style is better. I simply asked not to be judged when you don't know enough about me - I don't pass judgment on his parenting. No parent wants to be questioned on that, especially not by a message board goons with no real insight into one's life. But everyone has an opinion (especially PapaG - that's not intended as a knock, just saying he shares his opinions more than most).

I get why you (and others) don't have kids. To each his own. Call me crazy, call me old fashioned, call me a sheep, or hell, as El-p loves to call me a "soccer mom", I always knew kids would be part of the equation.

Also, the tax system is flawed - but I think you're oversimplifying it. But I do agree that nobody should get more than they paid in. That's utter bullshit.

Why make someone pay more money if they have kids? If someone has kids, they aren't likely to have much extra money to pay more taxes than they already do.

Under no circumstances should someone ever get more money back than they paid.

Tell that to the top business owners in America who give themselves billions in bonuses, some of which is used to pay their taxes.
