Allegedly, the reasoning behind potentially splitting up Embiid and Simmons is primarily because Simmons can't play outside. He and Embiid often crowd one another in the post. Wouldn't be so much of a problem if they could play the fast-paced transition game Simmons wants, but Embiid is much more half-court, so he's almost always trailing fast breaks. That is an unbelievable deal for a guy I consider to be a future transcendental talent. Hell, I'd reluctantly put Dame on the table for Simmons.
Philly is being stupid. They're ready to break up a Simmons-Embiid core for the next ten years to placate Jimmy Butler? Or maybe it's because they can't manage two young talents? They can't be that dumb, can they? They should invest in a better culture or veteran leadership that will help those two cope. It's the modern day Shaq-Penny.
Honestly, I would think decent coaching would be able to alleviate those issues, but for some reason Brett Brown apparently hasn't quite been able to figure it out yet.
