Blazer TV deal, it's.....

I'd venture to guess the Dodgers brand holds a lot more clout than Blazers. I'm interested to see how this turns out in the future when most of a (% of a) generation has little to no ties with the team due to not being able to follow them. At some point you have to weigh the cost for growing your brand and keeping people invested for future generations.

I've said this before, but not being to watch games for 9 years now has caused a great drop in my interest in the team. Almost to the point where if someone offered me free tickets to the game, I wouldn't go. out of sight, out of mind.

The Warriors had about 8 or so years of Southern Oregon exclusively to themselves, and now that they're going to probably be a dynasty Portland has completely lost this region, especially with the Californian transplants.
Warriors over Kings?

Huh? What's your point? More clout yet they have much less distribution in their market than the Blazers do here?

*sigh* 10 years of bullshit and fan angst means absolutely dick to this organization when presented with the almighty dollar.

Professional Sports is a business, whose aim is to suck every fucking penny out of you, using your emotional attachment to your city and the civic pride that comes from rooting for the local team as a weapon against you. "YOU AREN'T A GOOD ENOUGH FAN IF YOU AREN'T BUYING THE T-SHIRTS AND PATRONIZING THE SPONSORS AND BUYING TICKETS AT AN EXORBITANT AMOUNT." And if they thought they could make more money in Seattle, or St. Louis, or Kansas City, or any other number of cities in North America, they'd be gone in a heartbeat. Fans mean nothing if they aren't buying shit. The only pro team that isn't this way is the Green Bay Packers, because they are owned by the fans.

Every once in a while, you have to be reminded of this to re-ground yourself. The Blazers don't exist to entertain you. They exist to make money by every and any means possible.

Warriors over Kings?

The Warriors channel is available on everything down here, the Kings channel is only on Directv and Vue. Most people have Charter cable, so they've been able to watch the Warriors since the Blazers told us to go fuck ourselves 10 years ago. Most of the diehard Blazer fans around here are retired now and weirdos like me that are the children of diehards. The team has completely lost this area.

I think many of you need to calm down. This new deal doesnt go into effect until 2017-18. That gives CSN and DirectTV a year and a half to come to an agreement and CSN it sounds like CSN has serious "incentives" this time to get it done.

Wut? They took LESS money to get fans the most access to the games. They didnt want to risk root pulling a dick move and telling comcast to fuck off because they are partly owned by directv.

Right. But what I mean. That is a truly national brand that can survive that stuff. Blazers... Not so much (in my opinion)

Didn't they have 10 years? And incentives sounds so cryptic. Could really be nothing.

Sooooo, they shouldnt complain then. Because they have a service, accessible to them, for $30ish a month, with no contract, to watch the games.

So if they dont want the service, and dont get comcast..... i guess they arent really that invested in the blazers to begin with.

so instead of getting it on the provider they have, people will now have to lose that service (which in my case has more channels, including ones I want), pay a new fee (and in my case, increase my speed because streaming stuff doesn't work great for my speed)?

The Blazers aren't worth spending 30 bucks for a channel lineup that is worse than what I have, even if it doesn't have a "contract". And if you say just keep my dish as is, the team is definitely not worth 30 additional $$ a month.

This sums up my reaction to this entire off season so far

Also, this makes the firing of Mike, Mike, and Tone even more fucking headscratching. Just a dick-waving power play by McGowan. My disgust with the organization is growing by the day, what with utter failure of them to add anything meaningful to the team via free agency. They expect more and more and more out of us as fans (read: $$$), and have no commitment to putting a winning basketball team on the court. They got fucking LUCKY last year. They overachieved and caught the West during a down year, plus Damian is a fucking stud who willed the team to their success. But he won't put up with mediocrity forever. And then he'll be gone, just like every other Blazer who made a name for himself and then went elsewhere to chase that ring.

How many times did we hear crap like this when the team signed the contract in 07? (Nothing personal against you B'Bski).

They've had 9 years to come to an agreement and did jack shit. As I said earlier, I have no reason to believe things will be different this time.

Same. I used to go to about 20 games a year. And this was when Monia and Khryapa were out future with Telfair. They used to get a ton of my money. Now it's just not part of what I spend my disposable income on, cause I have no way to follow.

Merrit Paulson has to be loving this though. Not trying to turn this into a soccer thread or anything. But he has to be ecstatic at how he can get his baby to so many people.

And you have every right to those decisions. But $30ish a month is very fair. And doesnt deserve the hate its being received with.

Its not just comcasts fault. Directv and dish are aholes too. The blazers cant just force these companies to do business together. The blazers chose the best possible solution available to provide the most people the choice of watching all the games.

you can get the wwe network for 10 bucks a month, and it has PPV's each month and every single ppv they've ever had. The Blazers aren't worth 3 times that much.

Does not compute (considering how much time you spend on here). :)

Wwe has a lot more fanbase to market to.
If we are arguing $20/month difference i dont know what to tell you

Another 4 year deal to complain about.

I'll pay the god damned $30 a month just to have the games on TV. Just give me the effing option PA pleaaaaaase

I guess the Blazers aren't moving to Seattle...yet

Thing is, you're arguing 30 dollars a month for fewer channels, just to watch the Blazers. As I said earlier, they're not worth 30 dollars a month to me.

you'll notice that games on TV I'm much more active in the game threads.
