Blazers are for Sale

Now that Dirk has publicly stated he's done with the Mavs and Cuban is pissed at the Mavs ownership, I'd love to see them put together a bid for the Blazers..Cuban gives a shit about his team and his players...would be a great owner. Understands how to build a champion.
All the reasons Cuban gave of wanting to sell his team, not wanting to deal with real estate, not wanting his kids to have to manage it as he ages, are still right there. I just see zero chance he is interested in leading a bid. He'd also have to sell 100% of his Dallas shares. Dirk is totally irrelevant. Drexler, Porter, Buck, Sabas, Sheed would be more relevant not that any of them matter either.

I don't know 2.6% is a pretty hefty jump up when we're getting into growth on that scale.
Well sure - but if you say I invested in something that earned 2.6% over the stock market nobody bats an eye.

If you say I turned 360 into 6,000 it sounds way more impressive.

I don't think a longer process would mean a better new owner. I just don't see how the two coincide. I don't think Jodie or Bert will be doing due diligence, they'll just take the most money. In that way, I hope someone who really wants our team contacts them in the next couple of days and blows their doors off with an offer at around 3.8B that they don't even have to think about. I would love a new owner who is extremely motivated to own the team as soon as possible.
Yeah I think ultimately the trust just takes the most money and nobody cares anything about the buyer. Anybody who can get $4 billion cash together is going to have someone that can meet whatever "due diligence" is needed. Alex Rodrigues easily passed all the due diligence.

Only exception is if there is something specific in the Allen trust about the buyer needing to guarantee the team stays in Portland. Or some other type of restrictive language that has not been reported. I'd tend to think the trust does not have that in place but maybe there is a chance Paul put something in there.

I find it funny some fans will not call them out but are like -- We do not want Phil Knight anyways -- fuck him

This is like if you have a crush on a celeb ex. Sydney Sweeney and she comes out and says nope sorry not interested and you turn around and say she is a ugly bitch and she can pound sand.

I understand why he changed his mind BUT also I think there might be some bad blood between someone at "Vulcan" and Knight so I do not think they would sell to him anyways.

ALSO

Let's say he changes his mind or let's pretend he did not come out denouncing his interest and then bought them . Those same fans would be running around there home cheering and going .. Hell yeah .. I am tired fair weather fans who talk out of both sides of there ass.

While I would be happy with Cuban, he sold the Mavs because he lost so much money. Why would he buy another team?

You think in terms of the Blazers and Phil Knight that Phil Knight is like some normal dude and our Blazers are like Sydnee Sweeney??? I mean do you really want to go with that?

Phil Knight who made Nike out of nothing in Oregon and is worth in the neighborhood of 30B is the average dude and our franchise which has been languishing without true ownership for almost 7 years and is the 22nd most valuable out of 30 NBA franchises at 3.65B is somehow a Hollywood star that the average dude is trying to get with. Something seems really really ill conceived about this metaphor.

You're coming off like the child of a very attractive but still average woman who was being pursued by a filthy rich celebrity that you really wanted to be your new daddy. The celebrity proposed, your mom played hard to get, the celebrity lost interest immediately and now you're talking shit about the celebrity who has moved on and didn't end up being the dad you'd hoped for.

What if he makes a bid???

Wonder what his net worth is

Jody selling the Blazers to Bert....

Where did you hear he sold it because he lost money?

I heard he didn't know anything about real estate (next big phase for most NBA franchises) and he didn't want his kids to deal with criticism if they took over.

I'm sure the phat check he got helped too.

Not good timing considering the NBA wants to expand the league soon.

Fingers crossed anyone looking to buy the Blazers doesn’t move them…
Why? If league is adding teams (Seattle & Vegas), why would a new owner want to move the team?

Not me. I don't want someone that old buying the team for us to end up in the same situation with a trust as we have been the last 5 years.

Cuban as an owner would fucking do amazing here. You know he cares, and he fits the climate of Portland really well not to mention his political leanings skew more in favor of Portland too.

It'll never happen, but I'd become a fan again if we had an ownership again. Cause whatever this is the last 4 years was fucking awful and it started with the ownership.

The last 4 years started far longer ago than when PAE took over.

After Silver admitting a couple times that relocating the Sonics was one of the biggest mistakes in NBA history, I don’t think they would try it again with another team. That would be like solving a problem while creating another problem.

Yeah every time he talks about expansion he reiterates that he won't ever be looking to relocate any of the league's historic franchises and that usually does lead to him talking about the Sonics.

I don't know how I'd feel about that if I was OKC or NOLA but it sure makes me feel good being here.

He’s running for President in 2028.

Is this confirmed anywhere? I can look in a few minutes but seeing if I get a quick answer first.
I do think anybody is confirmed yet. But a lot of people are setting themselves up to be the Dem savior...

1. Cuban still owns part of the Mavs, so no.

2. It's going to be an auction, so it will take as long as it takes.

He said it in an interview. He said he sold the team because in all the years he owned it he made money like one of those years.

He's full of shit. Despite that he made over 3 billion in profit and the team was making a LOT of profit just in the last few years he owned the team.

He saw an opportunity to make 3+ Billion, and wanted to come off like he was barely making ends meet, instead of just coming off as someone who only wanted the money.
