I have not read up on this thread, so I apologize if that was already brought up, but does anyone else see the coincidence of the lottery with the announcement?

Meaning if we had landed Flagg, maybe no sale because of the assumed uptick in ticket sales and inevitable team value increasing?
Just woulda meant the asking price was more. Would of announced either way yesterday.

According to Google:
The Seattle Seahawks are not expected to be put up for sale until 2025, at the earliest. This is due to a provision in the 1997 referendum that funded Lumen Field, which would require Jody Allen to pay 10% of the sale price to the state of Washington if the team were sold before May 2025. A 10% tax is no longer applicable for a sale after May 2025, according to The Spokesman-Review.
Appreciate the link. Yeah that makes it sound like even more of a correlated issue.

13 days after the Seattle fee expires the Blazers are listed for sale.

I hope to god Bezos doesn't buy this team...

I hope to God he doesn't. It'd be hard to remain a fan if someone like him, Musk, or Trump via Saudia Arabia by the team.

Let’s get a bunch of home grown businesses leaders to come together as an ownership group. Phil, Dutch bros, Tim Boyle, Mcmenamin bros, salt n straw lady, Leatherman, Les Schwab….our concourse would be top notch. Get your tires rotated while waiting an hour to get your mcmenamin burger, burn your tongue on some hot coffee and cool it off with a bone marrow wafflecone ice cream. @HCP could shop for new kicks that undoubtedly I will out do.

I think you want the bulk of owners to be a smaller group - either 2 or 3 - maybe just one.

If they have a bunch of minority owners under 10% each thats fine but they wouldn't have any decision making input. You don't want too many voices or it paralyzes the organization from making decisions.

Could be health.

Could be he just wanted to scoop the Blazers up for a discount but sees now the valuation will be higher.

Could be he was offended how his prior offer was basically ignored and he felt disrespected.

I’m starting to get a feeling Bezos will own the Blazers and Hawks. But unlike Paul the Hawks will be his baby.

NBA doesn't allow one person to have any ownership in two teams.

Vivek was a minority Warriors owner but had to sell all of it prior to buying the Kings.

I do know - he doesn't have the cash to do so.

I'm not worried if he's a couple percent owner or something. We saw what owning a couple percent got Mark Cuban with the Mavs. All control is with the owner that is the governor. No way Kolde can get to that spot.

It's not necessary to have a lot of ownership to exercise control if the major owner trusts you and wants to delegate. See, for example: Bert Kolde.

Don’t forget Cercano is a spin off PE firm of the Seattle Vulcan universe

Worse than what? The last 3 or 4 years were not great, we can all admit that. If this would happen during the prime Dame era, I would have been a bit wary about a change. The structure seemed solid with an owner, Paul Allen, that was dedicated to the success of the franchise. Can we say the same about Jody Allen? She is not bad, but not great either in all that I can read and hear from different media that I follow. That's as much as I know and I am aware that it's just the tip of the iceberg.

But let's be honest. After 3 consecutive tanking years and just little progress this year, you can understand some fans wanting an ownership change. That doesn't guarantee anything. But could it be worse than 3 tanking years? Some may hope not and I am one of them.
This whole thing reminds me of something like you find out as a kid you are moving. Family is all pumped…..but what’s on the other end?

So now that Phil Knight doesn’t care for the Blazers anymore. I’m officially nervous. The team doesn't own the arena and we only extended to a 5yr lease on moda center is how long it would take to build a new arena somewhere else. No local owner options. I'm a little scared.

"Let's never change in case things get (even) worse."
I never once said I didn’t want change. Not once. I’m asking why some are very happy about this. Without knowing the other option.
