And a MASSIVE douchebagI vote for Larry Ellison, 10ish years younger than Knight and the 4th wealthiest person in the world.

you want an owner to meddle in bball ops weeks after buying the team having no nba experience whatsoever? Is there time for someone like Knight to make a winning bid between now and the draft. Obviously that wouldn't get approved by the NBA board of governors in time for the draft but maybe just maybe he would install a guy not to replace Joe but to manage Joe and make the deal contingent on that person's authority being implemented before the draft???
Wild times to be a Blazers fan!
I can't honestly see MacKenzie Scott wasting money on a sports team - she seems determined to do actual good with the money.Gotsa feeling it will be one of the two.

Tell that to the Clippers, who swapped Donald Sterling for Steve BallmerI continue to read on here and twitter about how happy people are about this and I haven’t got one reply on WHY? Change ain’t always good FAMS!
No way. No boomers that old. I'd rather not go through this trust stuff again in the next 10 years. My vote is for a Tim Boyle/Travis Boersma team-up.
And?Tell that to the Clippers, who swapped Donald Sterling for Steve Ballmer
So that’s what you’re attaching your hopes to? If so right on. I think I can dig and find some pretty bad situations and that’s all I was asking. Why the instant happiness when people have NO clue of which way this will go.Tell that to the Clippers, who swapped Donald Sterling for Steve Ballmer
OK name me an example where the new owner was much worse than the oldAnd?
I think the Trailblazers need new ownership, not from Seattle. If they are getting a new franchise, THE BATTLE AGAINST SEATTLE is on again. I know, it's been owned and operated by Seattleites for years, cut the fucking cord. If Kolde ends up with it, how anti climatic could it get.Jeff Bezos - BOOOO!
MacKenzie Scott (i.e., Jeff Bezos's money) - YAAYYY!
I'd rather have someone from Seattle than someone from Florida or anywhere on the east coast of the map.I think the Trailblazers need new ownership, not from Seattle. Opportunity of getting rid of Bert Kolde and Vulcan.I continue to read on here and twitter about how happy people are about this and I haven’t got one reply on WHY? Change ain’t always good FAMS!
The Russian Brooklyn takeover…..the new PHX guy? Jamie Gertz and the ATL situation with 12 owners. Just off the top of my head.OK name me an example where the new owner was much worse than the old
Doesn't have to be one billionaire it could be a decent group.I'd rather have someone from Seattle than someone from Florida or anywhere on the east coast of the map.
Oregon doesn't have a ton of billionaires with ties here.
Our richest guy with ties is Jensen Huang who may or may not have made giant donations to OSU sports anonymously. He generally hasn't shown much care for sports, but he was at the All Star Game this year. It would be sweet if he bought the Blazers.
Paul Allen didn't behead journalist or bribe the president or force women to wear veil.if it gets us a title, why not
i would do some very unethical things for a ring.
besides, paul did this from 99-03. didn't work, but he certainly tried.
I remember rumors that Paul and Phil didn’t get along and that Paul didn’t want Phil to get the team?
I think a lot of us imagine that an owner that actually chooses to buy our team will have a vision for what they want our team to be. I get it that it could be worse because it always can but the seeming micromanagement from Kolde over basketball ops seemed pretty confounding. So that’s what you’re attaching your hopes to? If so right on. I think I can dig and find some pretty bad situations and that’s all I was asking. Why the instant happiness when people have NO clue of which way this will go.
I’m a pessimist in all aspects of life. Gotta show me it’s gonna be better before I believe it.
Would Larry Ellison want to win or would he be more like a cheap skate?I vote for Larry Ellison, 10ish years younger than Knight and the 4th wealthiest person in the world.
Yeah, I'm hoping that this press release is more of an announcement of a deal already done or on the verge of being done. If that is the case, I sincerely hope the new owner or ownership group already have some of their own basketball minds with experience either consulting with them or ready to take over basketball ops.you want an owner to meddle in bball ops weeks after buying the team having no nba experience whatsoever?
while oversight for joe is necessary, poking their head in now is not. wait a year before influencing stuff.
Doesn’t have the funds but could maybe be a piece.I remember hearing that the owner of Dutch Brothers is a huge Blazers/sports fan and has talked about owning a team before.
Fortune has his net worth at 4.3B so he would either need several minority stake people in line or make the Blazers almost his only project. I think we'd find more stability with someone in the ball park of Knight or MacKenzie Scott. I guess we'll see sometime in the near future.I remember hearing that the owner of Dutch Brothers is a huge Blazers/sports fan and has talked about owning a team before.
The trust owning the team is one of the worst ownership situations in the NBA. It's not a coincidence this team has had terrible management decisions since Paul died in 2018. While we don't know a new owner will be good - any change is very welcome when it's currently one of the worst NBA ownership groups around.I continue to read on here and twitter about how happy people are about this and I haven’t got one reply on WHY? He’s worth 188 billion so I doubt he’d be too cheap??Would Larry Ellison want to win or would he be more like a cheap skate?
