He's full of shit. Despite that he made over 3 billion in profit and the team was making a LOT of profit just in the last few years he owned the team.

He saw an opportunity to make 3+ Billion, and wanted to come off like he was barely making ends meet, instead of just coming off as someone who only wanted the money.

It was actually a Facebook comment, but yeah he said it.

"I did every damn thing I could for 23 years. Kept prices lower than not only any NBA team, but lower than college teams too. I had $2 tickets for multiple years. When I sold there were always 4k tickets under $29. I made money 2 out of 23 years I was the majority owner. Lost hundreds of millions of dollars..."

It's still bullshit. Because he also made hundreds of millions of dollars, not counting the 3.2 billion he made when he sold the team.

technically, it might not be total bullshit

the Mavs, as a corporation, might have tons of loopholes, depreciation, and tax shelters that drop their income to zero, or a loss....on paper

Did not read through all the posts so this could have been discussed but Dame can spearhead an investor group and change it to " God Country Blazers"?

Being in owner limbo with an average roster, 2 bad contracts that probably can’t be traded, a meh GM/HC, and the 11th pick kinda sucks.

I really hope Scoot/Sharpe break out this year.

We don't have two bad contracts. We have Jerami's and I think he has value to some teams out there... not like a FRP or anything but like a second rounder and expiring contracts, I don't think we'd have to add a pick to him to move him or take on a contract that we don't like. Other than him we have a bunch of vets on expiring contracts Deandre, Ant, Rob and Tisse. Then everyone else is on a rookie deal or Deni who might have the best contract in the league that isn't a rookie contract.

I'm excited to see what Joe does, if anything, to change this roster into something that makes a little more sense. If no changes, I'll probably be pissed if Ant and Jerami are starting and if Deandre is getting more minutes than Clingan... starter between those two doesn't really matter to me as long as they're splitting time. Regardless, I'm super excited to see Shaedon, Tou, Deni and Scoot play and to see who we get with the 11th pick if we keep it.

I don't think it's likely that we hear anything more about ownership for a little while but I'm equal parts excited and apprehensive to see who it will be when the team is sold and where the team goes from there.

I think it's a really exciting time to be a fan of the team and I can definitely be a pessimist but we have really promising young talent, a late lotto pick and we know that at some point soonish (probably in this upcoming season) ownership change and maybe some roster change before that. Also interested to see who they bring in to fill the newly vacated assistant coaching roles.

Tim Boyle and Dan Friedkin are also on the short list?

Wait, Dan is from San Diego...I'm all for San Diego getting another chance at an NBA team (I mean hell, if the NHL is contemplating giving Atlanta a 3rd NHL team...), but not like this!

They have to play to break out. CB has no use for them. Front office gave him a new contract so they are all in agreement. I look forward to seeing them play for another team that is not beholding to a bunch of useless vets.

Yeah wondering, in general, how do you think players take it when a ~poor team goes up for sale?

While complaining about non-issues feels great and is also a super fun read, they (Shaedon & Scoot) were 3rd and 5th on the team in minutes played this past season. Not to bore posters with relevant facts, but of guys who went in the top 1o in Shaedon's draft, only 2 played more minutes this past season. For Scoot's draft, only 3 who went in the top 1o played more minutes.

Maybe it's just me, but I think the two 21 year old Blazers are coming along just fine and I'm excited to see what they do next year when I expect they'll have bigger roles.

Howcome there is no thread soliciting the members of this online forum if they want to combine resources to buy the team?

Why? If league is adding teams (Seattle & Vegas), why would a new owner want to move the team?
Just one reason mainly, I don’t trust Adam Silver no matter what he says lol.

I know it’s unlikely but if you’re a Seattle fan you never would have thought it would happen too.

This right here!

Now I can understand the thought that CB doesn’t play Scoot more but I think Scoot will get his chance to shine quite soon. Year 3 is an important year for lots of NBA players who take a leap, Avijia, Sharpe, just some examples.

as for Sharpe, that’s silly to say imo. Sharpe continued to grow in year 3, his usage was the highest so far is any of his seasons, he is developing fine under Billups.

Billups even tried to send a message to Sharpe to get better defensively during a stretch he benched him. Which I am completely fine with, that’s called coaching and holding a player to a higher level becusse they see the potential imo.
