When the team is sold all players must be traded in 3 years or given max extensions. How does the sell of team effect trades or does it?
I really have no idea why it was announced today - perhaps it was related to the lottery, perhaps not. I don't understand how you would know either?
Not that it wouldn't be sold eventually or even in the next few months with a different lottery result. But it might have changed the timing or manner in which it was announced.
Jody also said these estate sales can take 20 years or longer. So sure seems like she could have drawn this out many more years if she wanted to.
Ahh yes of course - its part of the massive NBA conspiracy that sends superstars to small markets. Appreciate you reminding me.Maybe Adam Silver said ,"if you sell the team you'll get the #1 picks in 28, 29 and 30, and we'll help facilitate a nice offer..."

So all the proceeds from the sale go to Charity? Seems like greed is not exactly an issue after all.
Honest question - is this better news than the Blazers winning a top4 pick?
I'm seriously considering that it might be.
As the owner of an NBA team, YOU decide who is traded for. Your GM works for you.
Dame retires, puts together ownership group, buys Blazers, fires Cronin.
Agreed. The sale was gonna happen eventually but the fact it was announced today and not 2 days ago probably has everything to do with waiting for the lottery selection to come out.I really have no idea why it was announced today - perhaps it was related to the lottery, perhaps not. Gotta be. PHX was 4 billion 2 years ago...
and are currently valued at 4.6B
Portland is valued at 3.65B

Why aren't the Seahawks for sale? I thought Paul Allen owned them as well?
There are non-horrible billionaires? Well, if there areI hope no one too horrible buys them. I mean they are all super rich but there are still degrees. Please God not Elon.
Teams always sell for more than they're valued at. Despite its issues, the franchise is one of 30, in an insanely elite group.
usually that's true. I'd estimate around 4B
if it was the Blazers WITH the #1 pick in 2025...how much of a premium for that 1st pick? $b-->4.5B?
