Blazers getting a G league team, playing at U of P. HCP hired as G-League janitor

I've always thought glazeduck was Casey Holdahl...I know he went to school at the U of O

We both went to the UofO, overlapped time there and have at least one common friend, but no, Casey and I are two different people. I take that as a compliment though!

I used to have some pretty good sources inside Moda, but now I just have a well placed neighbor for this kinda stuff.

Wasn't that the name of a massage parlor?

It's obviously out now (although there's still a minor piece that wasn't announced...) I tried not to oversell it and I know it's not enough to blow everyone's skirt up, but I definitely think this is thing to get at least low-key excited about.

Come on man,.. you really think having control of our gleague players is stupid?

you really think this doesn't solidify the team NOT being sold/moved anywhere else?

big positives to this. Just need to have a glass half full view instead of half empty all the time…
On the contrary. This only solidified that we are moving to the team to Seattle.

Now they can put Portland in its place as the little brother of Seattle by leaving their farm team here.

:devilwink:

I wonder why this was done now?

A. Blazers going to acquire more young players so need a spot for them to play?
B. Youth similar to option A - but the team is also trading Dame?
C. Team thinks it will help recruit veteran in trade or free agency to win now by showing their spending money
D. League pushed for it with new CBA/TV deal
E. Jody doing it to sell the team

Finally nice to see a move done that has dollars being spent instead of saved. Although the Jody skeptic in me wonders if there is a chance this was actually done primarily to make money in the long run; and not to primarily help the basketball performance/development of talent.

The NBA wants all teams to have Gleague affiliates, probably so they can eventually televize Gleague and make more money.

Good way to look at undrafted players without signing them to the Blazers.

They really should have done this about 5 years ago. They would have established a lot better attendance and who knows what it could have done for the players.

Joe Cronin and his Staff are trying to do things different. And i find it refreshing. I really think their hard work will really start to show a payoff this offseason.

The G League is not a money maker for the teams. The Blazers said as much in their presser. But it does help them develop talent on the court , as well as coaches, and personnel. It's gonna be pretty cool IMO.

It can be. The NBA will try to make it one watch.

Based on what?
On what they've done to create maneuverability , and be able to go after potential game changing talent. Neil roped the franchise into a corner, then basically acted like there's nothing he can do. I'm more impressed with the talent evaluation too as far as youth goes. It's the steps they've done to put the plan in motion. Now they have to hit on it.
