I don't have a problem with trading Batum, but we'd better be getting back a starting quality PG or big man for him.

Monta absolutely is a starting quality PG and would be arguably the best player on the Blazers. I just don't see why the W's might especially covet Batum when they've got Dorrell Wright coming off a very solid year and under contract for a couple more seasons, and other much more pressing needs in their front court.

Besides not having the pieces they'd be looking for, Portland is one of their closest geographical rivals and in the same conference...

The Warriors average 105.1 points per 100 possessions when Ellis is on the floor.

They average 120.1 points per 100 possessions when he is not playing. That’s 15-point difference.

* The Warriors have a 50.4 effective FG% (counting three-pointers) when Ellis is in the game. They shoot up to 54.8% when he’s out.

Again, this is a rare, rare thing among big-minute players and certainly does not exist with any true elite player.

Breaking down Monta's stats

I'd break the bank for Rajon Rondo (outside LMA) and that is the direction we should go, not Monta Ellis.

I'd said arguably. Pretty sure that if Aldridge and Ellis were teammates fans would be pyched about their exciting team and a debate ranking them would happen.

you'll never see me sighting DRtg. Too many variables can come into play as to why someone might not rate well with it. In Monta's case, dude is PG sized (6'2 180) but guards the opposing SG because he's a better option then Curry. He scraps pretty well for someone giving up so much size, but like most everyone else he fares better defensively against guys his size. Next factor in that along with having to guard guys on average 30 pounds heavier then him, he plays the most minutes in the league.

LA is probably my favorite player. That doesn't prevent me from seeing how talented others are. Ellis has top shelf athleticism that allows him to shake most anyone who's guarding him at will... he's a tremendous end of the clock/game Go! option. This is an important skill that with Roy's physical struggles currently Portland seems to be lacking in.

I've watched Ellis quite a bit and his guard skills are well rounded. He's filled in at point really well when Curry is resting or out injured. As a PG, I think of Monta as a Russell Westbrook clone. Especially combined with Gerald, Blazer fast break fans would be pleased. But again, I don't see them as compatible trade partners here for previously listed reasons

Why does Boston want to get rid of Rondo? I took a week off from the internet. Did I miss something? Rondo is a better PG than Ellis, no doubt in my mind, but Ellis is being shopped, and as far as I know Rondo is not. So I would say a trade with Boston is not a direction I would go in. It would be a waste of time. They love Rondo

I guess I think of Monta as a "PG" in name only. PG sized, but SG mentality. A bigger, not quite as quick, Iverson. Can you convince me otherwise?

how many players would you say have ever been as quick as Iverson was? I'd rate him the fastest/quickest player I've ever seen. Having watched Ellis quite a bit, I'd say he's as quick and athletic as anyone in the league today. He does have some of Iverson's relentless scorer's ability, but he's shown to be more willing to defer and set up others IMO... he's also a career 47% shooter to AI's career 42.5%

I'm not sure how I can convince someone else of my view that Ellis would be an effective lead/attack PG guard other then point to game film. I don't like the W's fit of their talents at all.. especially Ellis at SG. Rather then trying to convince you, how about I ask you to consider my view when you see him playing especially when Curry is out? I don't think the way that he plays on a limited and mismatched GSW's team is necessarily the way he'd play elsewhere with a different role and more talented teammates.
