With all of the free agent and trades happening, I thought it would be good to have a thread to keep track of the Blazers Salary CAP info.
With the recent trade of Blake and RHJ to Brooklyn for Mason Plumlee and Pat Connaughton, here's an updated look at the Blazers CAP situation -
Signed:
Gerald Henderson, $6,000,000 (Yes, he is now the Blazers top paid player!)
Chris Kaman, $5,016,000 (Team Option, $1M Guaranteed)
Damian Lillard, $4,236,287
Meyers Leonard, $3,075,880
Noah Vonleh, $2,637,720
CJ McCollum, $2,525,160
Mason Plumlee, $1,415,520
The Blazers have $20,890,567 in committed salary. Adding in the minimum 12-man roster CAP holds ($525,093 each), puts the total at $24,041,125.
Assuming the CAP is at $67.1M
, that gives the Blazers $43,058,875 of CAP space.
To get that cap space, they would have to renounce the rights to:
LaMarcus Aldridge, $18,942,177 (CAP Hold)
Aaron Afflalo, $11,625,000 (CAP Hold)
Wesley Matthews, $10,868,460 (CAP Hold)
Robin Lopez, $9,187,092 (CAP Hold)
Mid Level Exception CAP Hold, $5,464,000
Dorell Wright $4,075,500 (CAP Hold)
Joel Freeland, $3,766,890 (Qualifying Offer - due June 30th)
Allen Crabbe $947,276 (CAP Hold. Team Option -
before August 1)
Alonzo Gee, $947,276 (CAP Hold)
Tim Frazier, $845,069 (CAP Hold. Team Option)
Chris Kaman, $5,016,000 (Team Option, $1M Guaranteed -
before July 1)
Player Trade Exception ($3.3M as a result of Batum trade)
If the Blazers drop far enough below the cap (by renouncing players listed above) and use cap space to sign free agents, they would lose their MLE ($5,464,000), but gain the
Room MLE ($2,814,000).
The Max contracts are:
0-6 yr NBA vet, 25% of CAP, $15,785,15 (Like Greg Monroe, or DeMarre Carroll)
7-9 yr NBA vet, 30% of CAP, $18,942,177 (Like DeAndre Jordan, Kevin Love, or Paul Millsap)
10+ yr NBA vet, 35% of CAP, $22,099,207 (Like Tim Duncan, Tyson Chandler or David West)
