So what places are left with the no corporate sponsor? Madison Square Garden and The Palace at Auburn Hills. What else?

Tennessee HAD Grizzlies before they were wiped out.

Nope.

Interesting that Microsoft has not been mentioned as an option. I mean the Rose Garden was kind of built with Microsoft shares.

I've gotten over my outrage. I don't give a crap what they call it. It's just the place the Blazers play. They can throw every corporate cross-over logo at me and mention their names a billion times. I'm not a sheep. I'll spend my money how I want on what I want.

announcing Memorial Coliseum is getting Torn Down and we finally can put a Baseball Stadium there!!! ;)

Why would a local only company spend any money to advertise on an arena?

isnt Jeld Wen local basically? As a renter I never heard a peep about Jeld Wen at all, but since they renamed PGE that, I notice it on windows in new construction and stuff all the time. I know it was there before, but its crazy how I never noticed until now.

Perfect name, considering our small backcourt, our defense, and Stott's style. ;)

To get more exposure in the area?

Like Chesepeake Energy Arena, or Bankerslife Fieldhouse, or BMO Harris Bradley Center, or Energy Solutions Arena, etc etc

These companies are several factors bigger than the Portland based ones you listed. Very few local have anything close the capital required to secure naming rights for at least 10 years. It's a product of Portland's lackluster mid and large cap business scene.

Mrs. HCP must be the real deal.

The one I'm digging is the Mattress World Center.

Are you selling out when you go to work? No, you are making money. That's what we do in a capitalist society.

"Selling out" - what a ridiculous take. The Portland Trailblazers are a business. The point of a business is to make money. It's amazing they haven't sold the naming rights before this.

I bet you guys who accuse them of selling out would be very, very happy to take $4.2 million a year if you could. Would you be selling out, or just being smart?

I will change my moniker to anything for $2.1 million.

That amount to Paul Allen is like 42 cents to me. No, I wouldn't change my name for that.

Paul deserves to make a profit. If this gets him one step closer to that. So be it. In the end, it's just a name in front of a building. It has no effect on the game or the event itself.

I agree Stevenson. With the big market teams like the Lakers getting a billion dollar contract for TV, the Blazers cannot leave money on the table. Paul Allen is not going to be the owner forever.

If I were Paul Allen, I'd name it "PAOTPACNIWHDWW" (Paul Allen Owns This Place And Can Name It Whatever He Damn Well Wants). Kind of rolls off the tongue, don't you think?

"Local" companies that have a national market would include Jeld Wen, Nike. Addidas, Widmere, REI sporting goods (Kent, WA), Columbia sportswear (obvious choice IMO) among others, would be awesome and make sense

Although it's probably some company none if us have even thought about, or a National company not located in Portland or the NW that has been promised more national exposure like the NHL as well as the NBA

Isaac was pretty confident yesterday on his radio show that his reports from two weeks ago of MODA will be true. He said it was a done deal for $4.2 million a year and the Blazers just didn't like the idea of the story breaking from someone other than them. They want the drama of a big reveal today.

MODA is a bad fit. Oregon Washington and Alaska are their market.

Also the Rose Garden, and Blazers in general, being associated with health care is a recipe for disaster and taunting among national fans and even the national media.

Whatever, but I hope it's not MODA for those reasons
