A few Blazers tidbits in there:

ilya (portland)

Do Blazers have any shot in recovering from this Roy fiasco? Or are we Rockets 2.0? Lots of similarities between Oden/Yao and Roy/TMac.
Ric Bucher (1:28 PM)

Not sure what you mean by "recover"? They have to move Roy; that ship has sailed.

Can the Blazers trade for Andre igaduala "Iggy" trade away miller and pryzbilla & a first rounder? Or who can Portland get to improve?
Ric Bucher (1:48 PM)

Heard they offered Batum and Przybilla for Iguodala and Philly didn't bite. My sense is they'll move Roy before they move Miller.

Troy (Portland)

Blazers have to move Roy, but how? What could they get in return?
Ric Bucher (1:49 PM)

Don't know what they could get. But I can tell you 7 or 8 teams already have called to find out.

7 or 8 teams. That sounds a lot more optimistic than I envisioned it.

Thinking of teams that might take a chance on him for the right price, Orlando, S.A. maybe. Lakers? Doubtful, but who knows. Dallas.

Indeed; I suppose New York or New Jersey could use a guy like him. Washington probably wants to offer Hibachi, etc.

Yea you have to remember a lot of teams are looking for 3 ways right now to try and get Carmello too.

Ryan (Newport Beach)

Would the Knicks consider a flyer and trade for Roy instead of Melo? Give up far less, and hope he returns to form? He's a bettter defender when healthy than Melo, and you can keep more pieces.
Chris Sheridan (2:08 PM)

No, I don't think so. Brandon Roy has no cartilage left in his knee, and there is no surgical procedure that can correct it. Plus, his max contract is not insured for his knee condition. Put it all together and it might mean he is the most untradeable player in the NBA right now. I don't think the Knicks will do any trade that brings on long money unless Carmelo is taken away as an option, which will only happen if he decides to stay in Denver and signs his extension.

DUH. But let's start another thread about who we can trade him for shall we? :smiley-nope:

Fuck you Cho. If even 1 team called to find out, Roy should be traded already.

Wow... Philly didn't take Batum and Joel for Iggy? That smashes pretty much every trade idea that was kicked around on this board involving him.

Seems like a great deal from Philly's perspective. They get a young impact (potentially) SF and a productive center with a large(ish) expiring for Iggy's huge contract...looks pretty good for them. That's why it's probably not true.

That's ridiculous. Teams might want to give us salary cap ballast and/or want draft picks to go to them for taking Roy on.

Man I just went to the ESPN trade machine to try and work out some trades with Roy. With that salary, and knee, nearly god damned impossible. Even if teams were trading low end player for him they would have to trade like 6+ minimum of them to make up his salary.

This is the trade

Roy
Miller
Rudy

for

Sjax
GWallace

No way Charlotte goes for that, IMO. They're trading their best player (unless you believe Tyrus Thomas' season so far is his new long-term performance level) and another good one and getting back a good point guard who has only one year left on his deal, a salary albatross and a mediocre reserve. This makes no sense for Charlotte, IMO.

But that being said, if somehow you can talk them into it, by all means pull the trigger!!!! :ohno:

Remember....Michael Jordan has made some very bad moves in the past.

Apparently...but why would they want Roy or Rudy?

There is no explaining why some teams do what they are doing. But according to Bucher 7 to 8 teams have called about Roy. They may have only been calls to find out about his knee condition. They may have been a legimate probe for a trade. But they wouldn't call if they weren't interested in a deal.

It's almost too depressing to keep beating on this drum, but for chrissakes people, get over it. Roy isn't going anywhere unless he takes a medical retirement ... regardless of Bucher saying 7 teams have called about him. What he failed to mention was what they called to say about him:

Random nameless GM: "So Rich, sorry to hear about your boy Roy. Are things really as bad with his knees as we've heard."

Cho: "Thanks for the kind words. It doesn't look great ... So are you interested in trading for him maybe?"

Random nameless GM: "Oh, god no! I just wanted to call and offer my condolences. Good luck with him by the way."

Cho: "Uh, thanks. So you're certain you don't want him?"

Random nameless GM: "<laughs out loud> Uh, no ... <click>."
