Bucher with some Roy comments on Mike and Mike

I doubt that he's faking it, or just pouting, but I found it very odd that he said last night that he couldn't discuss his treatment.

Why the fuck not? Is he having something illegal done? Do the blazers have a trade-secret knee treatment? (If so, it is a very bad one).

I can't tell you, but to avoid the FDA it has to done in international waters on Paul's yacht. The yellow submarine is patrolling around in circles right now.

Live fire!! Hit the deck!!

Lol Ric blasting randomly from the hip again. He's just throwing that out there, he didn't sound too sure what theory he was going with on this issue.

He also said the Heat wouldn't take paycuts because all players care about money. When some of these ESPN people do their psychoanalyst shtick, it doesn't turn out well.

He got to the line 9 times so that's like shooting 9 of 19 plus an and1. He's had better shooting games this season but he got to the basket easily in that game. Box score doesn't show that.

Whatever the reason, whether it's fragile knees, limited skill set, or fragile ego (I think it's all 3), anyone who can't happily produce alongside Miller for the tidy sum of $17 million dollars a year isn't worth the time of day.

Trade him, waive him or shut him down for the season.

The Blazers are a lot more fun without him.

I say we trade him for Steve Blake.

I'd like to add, that the only thing we've lost with Roy is the presence of a guard that can get hot and break his man down 1 on 1 when the offense is struggling. That's where we miss him. But Roy didn't make the players around him better. He was just a 1 on 1, offensive player, just like a Zach Randolph. I said that 3 years ago and everyone thought I was crazy, but now, you're seeing that it's true. You get rid of players like that, and the rest of the team just picks up the scoring slack by playing a more team oriented style (which generates easier baskets).

I disagree with just about everything in this post. Roy clearly made his teammates better on offense; I don't think that can be disputed when you look at the actual statistics (5 apg for his career, 54 wins for a team starting Steve Blake, Nic Batum, the soft version of LMA, and Przy, with Outlaw being the primary bench scorer). Secondly, the past three games the Blazers have averaged 91 ppg. Clearly there are some offensive issues that are being masked right now. Last, Roy also demands a double-team on the perimeter, or at least did when healthy, which leads to easy baskets. I shudder to see what Rck Adelman does to this team tonight. LMA has to have a huge night.

I think some people's memories are short as to how good BRoy was. I think HCP should put together a BRoy appreciation video.

Funny thing is if Miller gets traded and Roy comes back and plays like he did EVERYONE will be right back to loving him... It kind of amuses me how many people want to throw him under the bus... Anybody remember what this team was before him? I will be the first to admit that these last few games with all the Aldridge oops and the fast paced has been fun but A healthy Roy at 90% is still a top 8 player in the league and hes top 3 clutch players in the league. Aldridge is now playing how a 2nd option should be playing, mix in a healthy 1st option and were looking good. IMO.

Nothing that you said in your post countered his claim. He said that Roy didn't really make the players around him better, and you pointed to his assist numbers, the teams overall wins, and the teams lack of scoring now (which might, MIGHT have something to do with them having NO bench).

I kind of doubt that everyone will be right back to loving him. If Roy has been purposely tanking and is waiting for Miller to be traded, he's a pretty disgusting player.

However, I don't think that's the case. I think he's actually permanently changed due to injuries.

I think it's both. I think he's actually permanently changed due to injuries, but also I think he's purposely sitting out because he's waiting for Miller to be traded because for some reason he thinks he will play better again with Miller gone.

I don't think Roy would go that far, personally. I think he's being unreasonably vilified. Yes, he made some unfortunate remarks, but he's a young guy who's seen his professional life fall apart to some extent. I can cut him a break for some frustrated comments.

He might be holding himself out in some desperate hope that some rest will return him to form, but I don't think he's trying to avoid playing with Miller. I certainly hope not.

Roy played with Miller all of last year. He may not have been thrilled about the situation, but he still played at an All-Star level until he was injured going into the playoffs. Despite this fact, some of you think he's sitting out and jeopardizing his reputation and career just to force Miller to be traded? I find this to be an absurd line of thinking.

He played at an All-Star level before another knee surgery. Keep that in mind, Roy had ANOTHER knee surgery last season. He has looked significantly diminished since that surgery, and I personally feel that Roy is reaching for excuses. He isn't playing as well because the team isn't best suited to his skill set. He isn't playing as well because Miller is holding him back. He isn't playing as well because he isn't getting enough touches. How many other excuses have we heard in the past few months? He's reaching. I think this is a young guy who is watching his career fall apart and he isn't ready to accept it so he's pointing fingers.
