Cars and Their Reps.....

I once owned a Bug. I'd rather walk.

The Beetle (original design) was a "ball dropped" by VW imho. The new design is MUCH better, but still not exactly a cool car.

The flower holder didn't help the original Beetle either.

When I said original.....I meant one from back in the 60s son!

This was perfect after I started this thread...... out running errands for a couple hours and I pull up behind these fucking guys!

Late 70's El Camino. Jacked up in the back, primer paint job, cigarette smoke flowin', stickers on the window that said...."Shoot First, Ask Questions Later"......"Right To Bare Arms"....

Loud ass exhaust. Was behind them for 10 blocks. When they turned into a 7-11 I had to follow to see if these guys matched the pre conceived notions I had of them.....DING DING DING! They looked like extras from Sons of Anarchy! Right down to the dream catcher ear rings and leather vests.

I guess you are what you drive!

Me too. The Bug to me means the original. The Beetle is the currently made car.

btw, the Bug originated in the 30's not 60's.

Here's a cool website about the restoration of an old Bug.

For me, these are always owned by rednecks, or creepy old guys.

Not saying the guy who owns this one is, but it always seems to be owned by older guys, who wear overalls, smoke and drink bud. usually have a confederate flag on it, and a gun rack.

REALLY FAMS!?! Trying to school ME on the history of German cars????? I'm just saying I like those years best. You think I'm just all looks and no brains huh?

Heheh. Yes I do.

I think the best years are 60's like you said. Once the taillights got HUGE, they were junky.

They're under powered, limited and rolling coffins though

Does what kind of car you drive epitomize (first time I've ever typed that word) who you are as a person? If so, explain.
I don't think you used it correctly, FAMS...

No cause I'm badass mofo that screws all your old lady's while your at work and I drive a lame ass, paid for Honda Accord.

Theory.

Crushed.

Haha! Dope post! But do you still have those neon lights on the bottom?

I don't have the luxury to live in Germany, but I can tell you in the US, a BMW is not a Camry. I driven both and they don't compare.

I'm not sure what trying hard means when it comes to German luxury cars, but if anyone can appreciate a good drive I would think it would be someone who rides a bike. I love to drive . . . and the more power and better handling a vehicle has all the more better for me.

To me, it's the people who think BMW owners own cars for image or because they have low self esteem, are the ones who actually have the esteem issues. (Like someone saying people who ride bikes have issues with their penis size . . . which is silly to anyone who rides bikes)

If you like to drive, aren't into being practical when it comes to your vehicle and can afford it . . . why not buy high performance german car.

So you don't think people buy a BMW for image?

And yes, many guys who buy bikes have the same issues. I see it all the time. They look down on other riders because they ride (in their eyes) a lesser bike. I've ridden a 250 and a 600. People who ride 1000cc bikes look down on the 600 bikes because they're weaker. It's sad. Harley riders look down on.... well..... everyone. There's tons of ego and insecurity involved. Most riders won't wave at a scooter rider. It's all ego.

Probably some, but I think it would be a surprisingly lower percentage than you think. I'm not even sure what that image is. I honestly think most people buy mercedes because they enjoy the luxury that comes with it and most people buy BMWs because of the way they drive. They are just fun to drive. Why do you ride a bike?

Nate, you don't think somebody would buy a BMW because they want a well built luxury sedan? Honestly?

I'm sure people buy a BMW for many reasons, but I Think ego is one of them.

Considering most BMW's I see on the road are driven like complete assholes, I tend to lean towards the "extension of penis" theory.

I ride a bike because

A) I love watching motorcycle racing

B) I enjoy customizing the bike

C) It's cheaper than buying, insuring, and driving a car.

D) It's fun

Well I think your thoughts on BMW drivers can easily carry over to motorcycle riders, especially they way they act on the road.

But since we are into stereotyping by vehicle, I can say with confidence I would rather be a BMW owner or bike rider than the image that goes with being a Camry owner. :)

I can respect your reasons for a bike. But you have to respect the fact that I bought an Audi A6 4.2L V8 because it is so fucking fun to rally in and its VERY comfortable. Could care less if people look at me when I drive it or not.

Although it is funny when stuffy pricks in suits stare at me when a gangster like myself has a nicer ride than them! So maybe there is a little image involved.

Do people really have a 'my car is cooler than your car complex' still? I thought that stuff was left in high school. Or, maybe there is and I just really don't pay attention because I don't care.

I can afford a new car and was contemplating buying one this spring, but then it dawned on me that I kinda dig not having to make a car payment and thought I'd ride this puppy out for a while.

I'm thinking about getting a Dodge Ram SRT10 in a couple years and blowing you mothafuckaz outta the water.

Didn't I just say motorcycle riders are horrible? Most of them are either old tough guys on harleys or 20 year old kids riding super sports in jeans and a tshirt.

Do you own a beamer? Its the only reason I can imagine for these weak ass insult attempts.

I'm sure people buy a BMW for many reasons, but I Think ego is one of them.

We bought my wife a BMW; I can assure you ego had nothing to do with it. The combination of safety, fuel economy, comfort, responsiveness, handling (especially in snow), AWD, cabin room and price did.

For the record, I've always looked at cars no different than I look at food. I need it for a purpose, and I purchase what I can afford. That means I pay cash. If I can't afford the car I want, I buy a lesser car. If I can't afford to purchase a car with cash, I save my money or change my lifestyle. For that reason, I didn't own my first car until I was 21.

Dude...grow up.

You started throwing out the attacks on BMW / Mercedes / Audi owners. T_o_B didn't even attempt to insult you, and now you're getting butt hurt.

Your insecurity issues are large.

How do you say "repped" in German?

I see a whole bunch of German car owners coming out of the wood work.

Yes, I think most people who have a BMW drive like they own the road.

Yes, I think you overpaid for a car that isn't worth the extra money.

Yes, I think you're getting raped on repair costs and labor for when your vehicle inevitably breaks down.

Cheers

Thank you for demonstrating your ignorance for all to see. Very brave, Nate. Very brave.

Serious question, why are you and others taking this so personally?

They. Are. Cars.

You'd think I was insulting your children. Good grief.
