Re: Blazers discussing Rudy to Toronto?

Meh. I'm not sold that Rudy is more than a gimmick player. Good for bursts of exciting play, but for the most part a disappointment. I think a lot around here overvalue him.

Rudy is far more talented than anyone in this year's draft will ever be.

What a fucking joke.

Sounds like KP is running scared and about to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Let me be the first of many to say that this is fairly lol-worthy. Better than Wall? Hell, Turner is probably better than him right now.

Trading Batum is throwing the baby out. Rudy is throwing a rubber ducky out.

Re: Blazers discussing Rudy to Toronto?

Wiz offered Nick Young, hmmm

Young is a steaming pile of garbage. Not only do his stats suck, he also has a pathetic work ethic: http://www.blazersedge.com/2010/3/20/1382121/media-row-report-blazers-76
There's not a player in the league who is more casually letting his NBA career slip by him than Nick Young. Someone needs to scare this guy straight, for his own good. At Summer League a few years back Young was more concerned with the women in attendance than the games and last year I wrote about his pregame hijinks. This year he was back with that same "Why bother putting real work into my game if I'm not going to play?" attitude that suggests his coaching staff gave up on babysitting him at some point over the last 12 months. I can't blame them. Tonight, when asked to complete a simple dribbling exercise (one ball in each hand, varying the height of the dribble based upon a coach's instruction) Young mostly ignored the instructions as his attention was otherwise occupied with an NCAA tournament being shown on the big screen. As three of his fellow guards worked hard through the drill, Young repeatedly messed up, losing his dribble and smirking at his own remedial failure. As the touch drills progressed, he simply checked out. He hoisted some jumpers and called it good. What a mess. 0 for 2 in 7 minutes. 1 foul, no points. A shame. Made worse by the fact that his snap jumper off the bounce can be a thing of beauty.

Oh, and my guess is we're going after a big @ 12. Patterson, Aldrich... maybe Orton?

Me, I'd want Aldrich to replace Pryz. I mean LOOK AT HIM. Are we sure that isn't Joel's long lost little brother?

rudy is just flat out not that good. I would not say I would take anyone for him but I would do this deal. He is very overrated by our fan base. plus it is clear that he does not want to be in portland.

I like Rudy but haven't been as impressed as I was before we drafted him (I was pretty high on him before we ever got his rights). He doesn't take the ball to the rim the way I hoped he would on a regular basis, pretty much a 3pt specialist at this point. Which is unfortunate for us...I think if the offense revolved more around him he would be more efficient.

It depends on who is available. I think someone with high-upside (think Paul George) was available then I would do it. But not for anyone else who is projected to go in that last lottery range.

You go girl! Rehab is for quitters! :biglaugh:

Re: Blazers discussing Rudy to Toronto?

Players who could be available at 13 that are better FOR THE BLAZERS than Rudy: Udoh, Henry, George, Patterson, Babbitt, Aldrich, Hayward, and probably several others I am forgetting. Basicaly, any good player who wants to be here and will accept his role here.

Some folks over-rate Rudy - and some are downright delusional.

I love Rudy, but Nate doesn't, and Nate probably matters slightly more. So based on the fact they need to move him, and how he under-performed last year, I think the only reason Pritchard is 'reluctant' to make this trade is because he's got other teams bidding.

I don't understand why we'd be trying to move up in the draft since Paul Allen wants to win now, unless the pick would be involved in another trade.

The blunt truth is, the Blazers don't have that much in terms of trade bait for a "blockbuster" type deal. Reinforcing the bench through the draft may be the best option available.

Re: Blazers discussing Rudy to Toronto?

I don't see what's so bad about this trade.

edit - this is probably the deal Rice was talking about. I'd probably do it. Rudy obviously doesn't want to be here, so you're in a position where you have to trade him basically.

I've heard through sources that possible options at 13 are: James Anderson, Patrick Patterson, and Xavier Henry...Anderson and Patterson are the two guys I wanted in this draft...either one would be great for Rudy!

This isn't just Rudy for 13. It's Rudy + 22 for 13.

Re: Blazers discussing Rudy to Toronto?

I like this deal much better than the NY deal.

We can package the #13 and #34 with a player/contract like Joel and hopefully get a stud.

Re: Blazers discussing Rudy to Toronto?

Oh, and we would have to take back some kind of salary from TOR to make it work as both teams are over the cap. Someone like Belinelli or Sonny Weems.

Bleh.

I think if the Blazers hold firm that Toronto will not insist on our 22nd and the deal will get done.

So we're not shipping Rudy out for a second round pick and sending along enough money to pay his salary? Wow! win for KP.

Good. I agree.

The word on Rudy is that if the Blazers don't get what they want, Paul Allen would rather have him rot on the bench then give him away

I hear Walter Davis from the Nets is available.....

Except CP3 ain't happening. It's NOT HAPPENING. Not happening. We are not getting CP3. Chris Paul is not coming to Portland. Portland isn't getting CP3. Not gonna happen. It's not happening. It just isn't going to happen.

I hope that's clear enough.

We are not getting Oden, not getting Oden....... Even I said that.......

Re: Blazers discussing Rudy to Toronto?

Rudy (who wants out badly) and the 22nd pick for a late lottery selection and you guys are poo-poohing it? WTF, that's a steal.

Maybe. But if Bosh leaves, that is a huge chunk out of their salary cap. They might even clear out some space on a sign and trade scenario.

We don't have trade bait to excute a blockbuster? Roy, Oden, Batum, Aldridge, expiring deals and several players with reasonable contracts and upside. I know we sometimes overvalue our players but come on......we have some pieces if we so choose to make a blockbuster.

Not the baby, just the poopie diapers.

Roy isn't getting traded, and LMA's new contract makes him very tough to trade. Oden's trade value is probably a lot less than many Portland fans believe. That leaves Batum as the only high quality young player on a good contract.

As for the expiring contracts - when was the last time the Blazers pulled off a deal with one of those? Why would Joel or Miller's deals have more value than Raef's did?
