Chad Ford Chat

Blazers have a ton of assets -- Andre Miller, Marcus Camby, Joel Przybilla, Greg Oden -- to use in trades. But Cho is more cautious and he still has to get Paul Allen on board with pulling the plug on this version of the Blazers and rebuilding around LaMarcus Aldridge and Nic Batum. But I do expect the Blazers to be one of the busiest teams at the trade deadline.

What? Isn't trading a player or two blowing it up? Ford is clearly out of reality here. :ohno:

Am I the only one who LOLed at him expecting the Blazers to be one of the most active teams at the deadline?

If you guys want to talk about careers and money, please take it to PMs.

Let's talk basketball here. Thanks.

I started it with my ribbing of MIXUM, but he was the one who started talking about compensation. I have no desire to publicly talk about money. I was trying to respond as diplomatically as I could. I apologize.

No, you weren't.

They may very well call a lot of people but at the end of the day I expect Portland's team to be exactly the same after the trade deadline as it is right now.

I didn't LOL.....but i did roll my eyes. Because none of these guys know jack shit what the Blazers are going to do. Their guess is as good as ours.

Agreed. With KP, he had enough time to establish a pattern of a sort.

Cho? This is his first trade deadline... how can anyone know what he'll do, even in terms of activity level?

Ed O.

sure, it's his first deadline as the GM. But he was the assistant GM for Presti while making significant trades each of the last 3 summers and 2 of the last 3 trade deadlines. You can try to argue that he has no experience or track record (maybe Presti had him getting coffee each time he wanted to make a trade), but it's a stretch to say that his "activity level" is a guess or not. Just b/c you're hearing from national writers instead of Quick doesn't make his "activity level" less true.

Cho said on Courtside last night that he was active in working the phones and trying to find a deal that would make the Blazers better. He didn't say that a deal was certain, but he sure sounded to me like a guy who's eager to do something.

That doesn't mean they weren't busy making calls, however. Ford said busiest. Trying to find a deal and being the same after the deadline doesn't change being busy.

oh, and in before the busy evaluating deals comments.

We are all eager for something in our lives. The fragrant one has yet to prove he can get something good done.

Are posts being deleted again?

Yes. And, unsurprisingly, the thread has a lot more talk about basketball about it after I cleaned it up. :)
