everyone has baggage

(waiting for the, “Becky Hammons has no baggage” comments. they might be right. but my belief is that everyone has baggage.)

I would’ve bet any kind of money Hammon not kneeling for the anthem would’ve been brought up on blazersEdge at some point. If people want to get mad, they will find something to get mad about.

there’s a lot of truth in this, unfortunately
I definitely did some stupid shit in my youth. None of it comes even remotely close to a rape allegation but I could have gotten in trouble. I just didn’t get caught.

Or he bombs and Olshey gets shitcanned

I think Olshey getting fired in the next two years is inevitable unless he brings in a legit contending roster for the first time.

In which case, I'm fine with him keeping his job!

Want to read them they are here.

It's bad. No question. That very last line tells you they didn't think about their response. The timeline and the sequence of events doesn't add up at all.
I don't necessarily agree. They may have genuinely not known how she got back there. Their story that they brought her to their house would seem to incriminate them more and so why would they lie and say that? It's possible that they were protecting a third party or parties. As somebody has said, we just have no idea what happened.

So often people insist on having strong opinions on things they have no idea about.

For this reason, I have not and will not be defending Billups or burning him at the stake for what may or may not have happened.

Everyone has baggage. What baggage is known vs what is unknown, and the degree of the baggage seems to be the big difference.

We can all downplay our baggage because we are bias and know the context behind it. But others peoples baggage that we know very little about, that's what we like to focus on.

But if he doesn't win here they will make him ride the RAPO TRAIN out of here.

pretty much.

This isnt at you at all just not posting a separate post. ;)

I have to say after reading this thread this place has hit a new low.
The moral superiority oozing from some on here without having facts, claiming they arent judging but doing precisely that, is simply sickening.
Some of you should really get off social media… and get off your high horse while your at it.
Man this place can be a bummer sometimes…

I read something on the internet!! Its now a fact and im ending you, your career and everything around you because i read something and im just gonna assume its all true and ill come to my own factual conclusion….

to go so far as to condemn Dame on this?

Some of you are simply whacked out of your mind and need a swift smack upside the head to knock some sense back into the sensitive snowflaked brain currently being used…

stop judging without having all the facts…. My God people…..like you all know more than the accused, the victim and those involved in the investigation….

Considering what I know of Dame, the off-court Dame, it doesn't surprise me in the least that he supports this hire. But folks in here? Making a victim with "injuries to [the] throat, cervix, and rectum, along with bruising on her back" out as a money-seeking predator is pretty disappointing. Is it true? Is it not true? After being assaulted in the throat, vagina, and rectum would your mothers and sisters and daughters settle if it looked like justice was unlikely to be served? 22 years old and faced with the lawyers of millionaires...

This rings of another famous raper of women, Kobe Bryant, who admitted with his own words what happened and yet? She settled. (People don't believe her either, but those people obviously haven't read Kobe's own account of the assault.)

Billups admits to sexual contact, but claims it was consensual. Meanwhile, the victim immediately called a friend and told her she'd been rape. The rape kit that clearly suggested rape had occurred. Futhermore, although Billups says he never went to Walker's house, the logistics of his version of the story are almost impossible, and a sealed suit from Walker against Billups is curious to say the least.

Those of you acting like this is some sort of PC war can fuck off. Go tell your wife about the allegations.

All this being said, Billups was not charged. It also seems crazy unlikely that Disney would have hired him at ESPN without a serious vetting. And yet questions linger. What perplexes me--other than the depressing position of the majority of posters in here--is that this franchise would risk their curated "culture" and (clearly phony) good-guy stance to take a chance on an unknown. It hardly seems worth it.

what is it exactly about the off court Dame do you know about?

I wrestle with how much the serverity of the allegation, from decades ago, should be held against someone.

A totally innocent person (not saying Billups) could be accused of the worst thing in the world, and I'm not sure he should be judge any worse than an average person. Just like it's hard to know what's it's like to accuse someone and not be believed, unless you've had it happen to you... it's hard to know what it's like to be falsely accused of something serious (not saying this is Billups).

Winning is the great elixir. There will be some, who say " i'm not gonna support the Blazers anymore". But many of those are casual fans, who aren't fully engaged unless the team is on a run anyways. Bandwagoners if you will. But i believe in 2nd chances, and what you do after that means a lot. Chauncey has been a positive force in the community here in Denver, and in other cities he's been a part of. I'm willing to bet he will be a positive force for this Franchise going forward. As a Blazers Freak, i want the best for this team. They're my extended family. Go Blazers! and Good Luck a plenty to our new coach.

that’s what I don’t understand. The people that jump to conclusions don’t even consider the possibility that Billups might actually be innocent? Like another person wouldn’t be motivated by money to lie? (And it just so happens to be a woman.)

I’m not saying he is innocent, but I’m also not saying he’s guilty. I (and everyone else in the world that wasn’t there that night) literally do not know. It’s gonna take more than that for my moral compass to kick in. If that makes me a shitty person, so be it. I won’t lose sleep.

not for everyone….

Totally agree with this. But I can also see the side that would have rather just went with someone else without this sort of public detail out there.

Either way, some of the stuff I'm reading on other sites is just completely over the top. It's so easy to pass judgment on someone when you know the entire context of your own life but only a small part of someone else's.
