I had never heard of a Billups sexual assault case which made me think it must have been recent since he's been in and around the NBA for decades.

Then I saw this is from 1997.... after brief research; I don't believe Chauncey needs to or should offer any explanation nor entertain any questions on this incident. Its 24 years old, when he was a 21 year old kid, at another persons house during a party with a bunch of other people involved. One other person "has not settled because he has no money". Theres no evidence available that Billups did anything wrong. Its not a pattern of behavior from him as we've heard no other allegations.

It's ridiculous this is being brought up by Blazer fans and/or Blazers media.

Outrage junkies. Whadda ya gonna do?

BBert -- Facts never stopped Cancel Culture from doing this BS so your words are wasted on these people. ---

Nice Job Blazers in Hiring Billups but i hope he gets ONE assistant who has been a HC before to help him but again nice job NeO now time to figure out how to fix this mess of a roster.

The top story about him is going to be the rape case by our local media.

Really excited for the hire. Hearing him talk about basketball the last few years reminded me of Kerr. Great reports of his work with the Clippers.

Spolstra would have been my first choice but I think I like Billups the most of the available candidates.

Carlise would've been high too, although I don't know he'd have entertained the idea of taking Stotts job.

Does anyone remember who they wanted the team to hire last time? I remember being all MEH when Stotts was announced. I’m actually excited about billups. Hope he succeeds and if he doesn’t hope it doesn’t take him a decade to get fired

Which brilliant basketball mind did they lose out on? Or which one should they have gone after?

You seem to think that I'm criticizing the move. I merely said that of the options, I'm a meh, because nothing I've seen or heard suggests Billups is anything special. I imagine I'd have the same reaction to most head coaching hires--the vast majority of head coaches are pretty unimpactful, in my opinion.

I was extremely underwhelmed with their entire list last time.

This time it was at least some people that I was okay with. I would have been fine with Hammon. I would have probably been okay with MDA. I like Chauncey. I don't think there was anyone that I was just flat out unhappy about.

I'm going to cheer for Chauncey to succeed here and assume he's resolved the Boston issue in a responsible manner. He was never proven guilty so I'd rather not feed that narrative anymore...if there's an issue his accuser should have taken him to court and refused to settle.
You don't honestly believe that do you? You do understand the uphill battle victims face when they speak out about sexual assault right? Speaking out against a professional basketball player amplifies that many times over.

In these instances, everyone always thinks about the accused and how they will move on.

Why don't more think about the victim and what they're going through?

Blazersedge and Blazer reddit are going nuts right now

If there's one thing I've learned in my 86 years on this planet, it's that twitter, Blazersedge and Blazer reddit is the Mos Eisley of Blazer fans. You'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy than Blazers Twitter, Edge and Reddit.

That's because those places are all a bunch of kids who think the NBA didn't exist until 2003 when LeBron was drafted.

This place is full of a bunch of old fogies like you.

I like the Billups hire. He was one of my favorite as a player. Always calm and collected. I think he’ll be a good coach. I don’t think if players aren’t producing he’ll have any problems sitting them.

We’ll see. But I’m excited for the new era

If true, I am disappointed.
Kind of like when Warren left presidential race, I figured Biden would sure be an improvement but definitely not my first choice.

I truly hope we don't see a situation where Hammon gets interviews but teams are too chicken to make the step and hire her.

I can pretty much guarantee Hammon will get a HC job at some point. She has the skills.

True.

Still think it happens. Especially like an Orlando team.

A woman coach will happen. I just hope it's a good coach so it doesn't make it that much harder for the next hire. If that's Becky, great, I really wanted her and I'd be lying if Calvin's source didn't concern me.

She was my 2nd choice and would have loved it if she came on but she will land somewhere for sure.
