Then he shouldn't have paid and right there makes him people think if didn't do anything wrong why pay. I don't want happen that night if guilty or not guilty but paying to get rid of allegations will make people thinking that he might of done something wrong. Believe me this will hit the ticket sales at the start and some season ticket holder.
Probably some, but I personally know a few people that have been involved with court cases where they settled. At least 2 of them were completely innocent

I guess if you figure John Canzano and the Oregonian not the local sports media you would be correct.

But-

"Sex-assault survivor Brenda Tracy is in disbelief today. Maybe you will be, too, after you read the details of the troubling allegations pointed at Billups and a couple of his teammates in November of 1997.

Canzano lives for this type of moral outrage story, so of course he's been hoping for this move to fill a few columns and shows with content.

As for Brenda Tracy - she's a total extremist and there's a reason athletic departments have backed off of working with her.

I know. I freakin hate the guy sometimes.

Just you wait. Quick is Lurking! JC is the early bird gets the worm!
Quick will try to be the second mouse and get the cheese.

A Jason Quick click bait story is coming for sure. Bet on it. Just be prepared for plenty of disclaimers and fence riding so he can claim he has been right all along.

Lol.. This city is going to run off a potentially really good coach and the greatest player ever to don their jersey, at the same time. This is hilarious and sad
We can't let that happen. If they don't like it then they should leave and look for another team, it’s getting ridiculous

One would think large corporations like ESPN, the Clippers and now the Blazers/ Vulcan would do their due diligence from a PR and HR perspective with as serious an isssue as sexual assault/ rape allegations. I will side with that idea and give Billups a chance.

I read at Reddit some things that were allegedly included in the case file and it looked like Billups' story doesn't add up. Of course i didn't check the file myself so it can be they are lying but doesn't look good. Fact that he didn't get charged for it doesn't mean anything really. This happens when you settle, you don't get charged.

People especially when they are young make mistakes, but this is not type of mistake that should be forgiven or forgotten. Sorry will follow you for rest of your life.

I really dont care what happens to Billups but dont mess w dame. Hasnt been a more genuine guy in pro sports history.

Considering what I know of Dame, the off-court Dame, it doesn't surprise me in the least that he supports this hire. But folks in here? Making a victim with "injuries to [the] throat, cervix, and rectum, along with bruising on her back" out as a money-seeking predator is pretty disappointing. Is it true? Is it not true? After being assaulted in the throat, vagina, and rectum would your mothers and sisters and daughters settle if it looked like justice was unlikely to be served? 22 years old and faced with the lawyers of millionaires...

This rings of another famous raper of women, Kobe Bryant, who admitted with his own words what happened and yet? She settled. (People don't believe her either, but those people obviously haven't read Kobe's own account of the assault.)

Billups admits to sexual contact, but claims it was consensual. Meanwhile, the victim immediately called a friend and told her she'd been rape. The rape kit that clearly suggested rape had occurred. Futhermore, although Billups says he never went to Walker's house, the logistics of his version of the story are almost impossible, and a sealed suit from Walker against Billups is curious to say the least.

Those of you acting like this is some sort of PC war can fuck off. Go tell your wife about the allegations.

All this being said, Billups was not charged. It also seems crazy unlikely that Disney would have hired him at ESPN without a serious vetting. And yet questions linger. What perplexes me--other than the depressing position of the majority of posters in here--is that this franchise would risk their curated "culture" and (clearly phony) good-guy stance to take a chance on an unknown. It hardly seems worth it.

Dame supports this hire in the sense that he was asked by Haynes about two candidates by name and said he liked them both. He also has been a huge advocate for the WNBA and promoting women on nearly every one of his platforms. He went out of his way to post a pic of Becky on his Instagram supporting her climb in the coaching ranks. The dame you know of off the court is the dame you see on the court. Theres no airs to him, nothing fake.

People need to stop slandering the best thing to happen to this franchise. Jesus... Just look at the kinda guy he is.

The Clown with moral outrage....that is amusing.

It's bad. No question. That very last line tells you they didn't think about their response. If you took her to your house how did she end up in the other house?
The only response would be that you or someone gave her a ride back and then all of the other stuff happened after she arrived back there. The timeline and the sequence of events doesn't add up at all.

I used to feel the same way. You are 100% incorrect.

I doubt the city will run off Damian.

We live in a time when an isolated allegation, not a charge, not a conviction, not a pattern of behavior, is enough in some people’s eyes to end a person. Says more about them than it does about Billups. The only fact in this whole thing is nobody knows the facts and anyone stating otherwise is purely speculating, and that’s it.

And you gleaned this from where? His raps?
Fuck your tone.

You are basing your view of Dame on interviews and Twitter. I am basing my view on the physical world, here, in Portland. I'm sorry your hero is a philanderer. It disappointed me too. I would have never mentioned it, if he didn't endorse Billups. All these hypocrites.

Or he has an open relationship.

Again, I'm not judging Dame for his actions, but if you couple his actions with his endorsement of one garbage human and then another potentially garbage human, then Dame sucks too.

What??

Is he (Billups) really "garbage"?
