I can’t think of anyone who cares less about what people on Twitter or Reddit or Instagram etc might think of him or his decisions. Literally no one

There is a vid from Countdown on how the Blazers took 2 plus days this via Woj to investigate 97' and they found him to be truthful and such -- watch the vid which i saw linked in the twitter feed to the right on this forum.

The team did not just go this is our guy and stick there head in the sand so the haters need to realize this and again live with it or just hush about it and stop blaming Dame and NeO.

Maybe, but I don't really see any outrage aside from:

1. Blazersedge and Reddit, which they are not going to care about
2. Twitter, which is just a cesspool altogether
3. Canzano, who would have found something to gripe about no matter who was hired
4. @Propagandist

I don't particularly think the Blazers or Chauncey are concerned about those....

FIFY

Ya, I wasn’t trying to twist anything. Sorry you felt that way, and I will try harder to convey to type what I am thinking

based on your response to my comment, I’m not sure how I’m supposed to take it any other way? Your comment is correct and I completely agree that the accusations are more than “baggage”. But you tied my comment to your stance, which overtly implies I made a statement dismissing the accusations.

as a father to two young daughters and tied to an organization loosely tied to some sexual misconduct allegations (and driving the fight to take a stance against the offenders, tho the allegations are infinitely less than those against Billups), it’s a hot button item I feel strongly about. I have a “no tolerance” policy on such things. So I found your response to mine deeply offensive.

I'm outraged that people aren't more outraged over the outrage.

I really don't like how so many people are coming at this from a point of certainty. They're acting like they know, without a doubt, that Chauncey Billups raped this woman. We have no idea what happened that night. In fact, I don't think the accuser fully knows what happened that night. He was one of a bunch of guys who could have been there that night. Now, he might be guilty of knowing who did what, or maybe he's guilty of committing rape, but we don't know for sure and I really don't like how people are just assuming that he's guilty. They're acting like it's a certainty.
Completely agree with you here

Like I said, I’m sorry I have trouble transferring thoughts to speech and type.

link? Would love to see that. Love the hire btw. Wanted him from the start

They vetted him but not until the some the fans was out rage of the hiring. Until then they went deep in that year of the allegations. But anyway they was satisfied with outcome and there going ahead with the hire. You can hate or love it but the bottom this out of our control. Some will quit being supporter to the team altogether and some condone his actions but will still a fan and some it's doesn't what he has done and continue be a supporter. Anyway already interesting off season.

I'm also trying to rationalize it myself. Not sure how I should feel. The excerpts were disturbing

Gonna be interesting if Billups get's booed on opening night in moda by some fans and how loud

Maybe a couple of idiots. But if they don't like him then they probably won't show up to the game in the first place.

I believe that our team, the Clippers, and ESPN all investigated the shit out of these allegations. It wouldn't surprise me if he took a polygraph at some point. The details of the allegation are monstrous and if they're true, yeah he should be given a second chance but not in a visible role... he should lose out on opportunities like head coaching.

That being said the fact that the authorities never pursued the case despite it being reported the day after and that the civil litigation lasted three years before the settlement, the amount of which is not released. I would never flat out dismiss rape allegations but all of the logistics of this thing doesn't point to a strong case against Chauncey.

That being said Neil better not come off as condescending when answering questions about this. And unlike I was saying to @Mediocre Man last night, I do think that both Neil and Chauncey have to answer questions that aren't too specific. Neil should be ready to detail how they vetted the situation and Chauncey should be ready to sincerely and vehemently proclaim his innocence. It might have been twenty four years ago but it's too serious to "no comment" like I had earlier thought they'd do.

Paraphrasing Adrian Wojnarowski: Blazers know that multiple organizations have vetted Chauncey Billups' sexual assault from 1997 and felt comfortable enough with his version of events to hire him. They also asked Billups about this on Wednesday and his version of events was consistent with what other organizations had found. The Blazers continued through Thursday and Friday to do as much digging as possible on this allegation and felt comfortable enough in hiring him in a head coaching capacity.

The Blazers organization and other organizations before it likely know more than ANY of us, so when it comes to an allegation that may or may not be true and was never proven, I'm going to put my trust these organizations properly vetted this allegation.

from a business standpoint, hiring someone who has a sexual assault accusation on their resume, is a dangerous move.

Doing so without properly vetting him (or her) is even more of a dangerous move.

Let's say that they "vetted" him by just going "oh well, it was almost 25 years ago"...and then it turns out he did it. The team would have a huge HUGE PR blunder clusterfuck on their hands. Like, similar to how the Charlotte Hornets original owner George Shinn. He had been accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a Charlotte woman, and that ruined their fanbase. And one could argue that that fanbase has never really healed from that fan/ownership wound.

I don't doubt that the team looked into this, or if they didn't, they will live to regret it if it backfires.

Oh belive me those who say "I will not support the Blazers anymore" and bla bla bla they will come

My god the Twitter outrage. Don’t look if you haven’t. I almost want these idiot fans to make it such a big deal that Billups and Dame say fuck it, I’m outta here. Go hire shitty Hammon and maybe Steve Blake will come back, everyone will be nice and happy

HOW DARE YOU!

Good luck to Billups, Olshey, the team and you guys. Can’t do this any longer.
Love
