OK, serious question. Living out of area makes it hard for me to judge. Is the Billups controversy a tempest in a Twitter pot or are there serious misgivings among fans and community at large?

The community at large is much more focused on surviving the apocalyptic heat wave. I imagine most are unaware of any controversy or have given it little thought.

Can someone explain why so many people think hiring Billups means Dame will leave? He was one of his two names he liked. I don’t get it.
All indicators is that Dame hand a hand in choosing Billups over the other candidates that were brought to him. But that doesn’t mean he can’t get pissed at the fans attacking him for being a part of that decision.

Here's the deal, if the team investigated the situation from 1997 and came to the conclusion that Chauncey was innocent and the team also thought that Chauncey was the best candidate, then the move that takes character and ethics is to hire Chauncey and deal with the aftermath. The easy and unethical thing to do is go with a different coach, that you don't believe is as good, so you can avoid doing some PR work.

I honestly think Dame didn't want to be coached by Hammond because she's a woman. Maybe I'm off base, but just a hunch.

Billups and Kidd were PGs he looked up to and he feels he can thrive under either of them.

Okay, fine, you win. Mock rape victims. Have fun.

Actually, I went out of my way not to mock her. I respect her cause and her constant fight. I honestly think Canzano inserted her quote for his own purpose. Either way, if you want to help the cause (or any cause) you don't crucify someone in the media without knowing all the facts. I am sure his daughters are going to love going to school in Portland where he has already been labeled as a rapist.

Hello, Mr. Gibson. He is innocent in the eyes of the law, yes. And though his story is not believable in the least, I have no idea what happened.

...yet somehow you believe without a shadow of doubt that "he did it" and that you "have no idea what happened" -- talking out both sides of your mouth with the best of them!!

Yeah we went from "the Blazers are dead to me" to "convince me" pretty quickly. Who does she think she is lol. Take a seat you are not important

For someone so woke, she has no idea what that kinda thing will do to the victim she is supposedly avenging. This is the kinda shit I can't stand at Blazersedge. None of their compassion and care is genuine

Do you guys also have the feeling that we have survived the worst and the storm has subsided? It feels like so, hopefully by the end of the week this wont be a big topic anymore.

Hell no. Blazer fans need something to bitch about. Once Stotts was gone it created a void. Billups hopefully will be accepted by the city. Olshey is a constant but they’ll need at least one other thing. Without draft picks it’s gonna be slim pickings.

Every single Blazer fan I've spoken with outside the forum has said what the fuck. I'll quote one text which summarizes the tenor: "Why couldn’t they just hire one of the numerous qualified candidates that had never been under investigation for rape or domestic abuse? Doesn’t seem like it would be hard to do." In here, clearly, it's a different story. I'm also not from the suburbs.
Fuck every single one of these stupid ass motherfuckers. The man was never charged and settled in CIVIL court, not criminal court, probably in an effort to make the shitshow disappear.

If the shoe were on the other foot and this was a white coach with the same allegations against him, would there be the same outrage? Or would these same fans be praying for him? Honest question.

These same people expressing outrage at the Billups hire are mum on the whole sexual harassment case surrounding Jody Allen. Where’s the outrage? Where’s the “I’m not gonna be fan anymore until she sells the team?” The outrage is because Billups is black and this city is showing its true colours.

Bunch of fucking hypocrite lunatics. Don’t let the door hit ya on the way out, motherfucking fair weather fans.

Yeah by the end of the week I want us past this. Then by the end of the draft I want us talking about how we make sure Ben Simmons can hit his free throws.

Having concern over the character of someone as important as the head coach doesn't mean they're hypocrites or lunatics.

Everyone really needs to take a deep breath and relax a little.

Stotts is gone.

A new era is here.

But they don’t have to be concerned about someone as important as the OWNER of the team?
