Dude.... the Blazers are getting SLAMMED on Reddit for this Becky Hammon article. Everyone is saying they leaked this to try to deflect off the Chauncey hire.

Early bets on how Neil Olshey will address Chauncey's accusations tomorrow?

"Look, we're not at liberty to discuss details, but what I will tell you is this. We take accusations of that nature very seriously and we looked into the veracity of those allegations and found that there was no truth to the way people believe things worked out. And I know that we are not the only organization to have done so. Other organizations within the NBA and outside the NBA have done their own investigations and their conclusions matched ours. I have known Chauncey for over 10 years, he's been an upstanding citizen, has had multiple positions within the league and outside of it, is highly respected among his peers, has a beautiful wife and three kids and would not have the kind of support he does if people truly believed he was capable of the things that some people are saying he is. And one more thing is that I can guarantee you guys that Jody Allen would not have signed off on our decision had she believed that he was actually the type of person that did such a thing."

This would be such a Neil thing to say.
I'm betting on, "Look, clearly I'm not going to talk about this misconstrued narrative from 24 years ago, trust me, we've done our due dilligence and dotted all the i's and crossed the t's

Damn dude it is a little creepy how perfect that was. Scary

That's probably it, word for word.

Neil should just say look at my track record of the type of people I’ve brought into Portland.

and it would be the right way to address it imo. Not a thing wrong with that and its true.

found that there was no truth to the way people believe things worked out.

This is the only part I don't think he would touch with a 10 foot pole. I don't think they'll make any kind of remark on whether it was true or not.

I think he'd say something like "after talking with Chauncey and other sources, we still felt comfortable offering him the position."

yeah, that cool....move on

Forget the rape thing for a moment...

But doesn't this feel a lot like the hiring of Mo Cheeks?

Great leader...

Won a ring...

Point guard...

Defense...

Yadda yadda yadda.
No not at all. I had no confidence in Cheeks from day one. Not near the strength, leadership or basketball intellect of Billups. That's like comparing Dame's leadership to Steve Blake.

if dame came out and said he was happy with the hire, would people turn on him?

he may have already said something, ive been mostly avoiding this thread tho
He has to publicly support the hire. And not get defensive when the predictable minority slam him over it. He needs to let it roll off his back like rain in April.

Lotta idiots out there. Fortunately Reddit anger carries no weight. I stopped looking at Twitter last night, I was getting so annoyed. Want to come through my phone and slap people

twitter sure has that effect on people, doesn't it?

think you need to step away a bit. this is shockingly in alignment with how he talks and his is not the kinda personality to emulate

All of that was also true of Magic Johnson, and yet he was a horrible coach.
Was he a 'leader' or just a magician? Although he was a good defender, he was not a great one. And high IQ??? I have listened to his basketball commentary when he was on the TV and I do not concur.

never been on twitter, facebook or instagram. Hell, the OT section here can get one pissed easily enough.
I honestly think anything to much can be bad for ones mind.

Yeah, I read it as it’s an opinion held by some other teams around the league about her day-to-day coaching ability.

Also, as another poster said, why won’t the Pelican even interview her considering that a Pelican beat reporter was talking shit about the Blazers. Is Gayle Benson anti-women? She’s the only other female owner in the NBA, unless I’m forgetting someone else, and she won’t even give Hammon an interview.
Don't forget Pau Gasol said she once advised a player to throw his bounce passes to a 7 foot tall dude faster and bounce them higher so the guy could catch it. And Pau thought that was brilliant. So that right there is a major endorsement....

Edit: I'm not mocking Becky; I'm mocking Pau Gasol.

least its not boring...lol

Seriously getting vibes of 2015 when we lost Aldridge. I don't think we're that hopeless yet, but next year for sure...

If we get "Robert Covington has been traded for Aaron Nesmith and Tristan Thompson" before the draft ala "Batum for Vonleh and Henderson", while Neil tries to tell is how good Nesmith is, that's when I'll know the end is near.

the only fact about Hammon is that she’s an assistant with the Spurs. That on its own doesn’t qualify her to be a head coach.
Three time all American
Six time all star
Twice all WNBA first team and twice second team
Led league in assists
Number retired
Coached summer league champions
Assistant seven years, five more than Billups

"Hammon impressed Portland officials and was generally liked among Blazers staffers, sources said. But when Portland reached out for intel from San Antonio figures, the background on Hammon was not nearly as complimentary pertaining to various aspects of day-to-day coaching responsibilities. That sentiment has been echoed by sources around the league."

Sounds like the author verified this stuff outside Portland.
Now where’s the apologies to @calvin natt ? There were a bunch of folks on here that called the intel he shared pure BS. Anyone willing to eat crow now? Where y’all at?

The lack of interest in Hammon is not because she is a woman. Not sure what it will take for people to accept that - likely some never will.

It seems to me that some people just cherry pick through the post's and don't read everything. I saw your original post about Hammon but I'm too new to know who is credible and who just likes to blow smoke. After reading the report this morning you're cred rep shot way up in my book. I will pay more attention to your post's in the future!
