Buckaroos
Steel heads
Pioneers
Lumber Jacks (not to be confused with lumberjax)
I would rather not share my name with another pro team in another sport or a Nationally known college football brad like Michigan
I like football and hockey more than baseball. But if I got to choose which top professional team comes to Ptd, I would choose baseball. I really miss going to MLB during the summer, it makes for a cheap (relative to football and hockey) and entertaining day.
Hockey would be cool to have in Portland, but it's season is close to basketball and the tickets would probably be just as expensive.
Portland Storm
Portland Thunder
Colors of Dark gray with black and red trim
"The Storm" with menacing dark gray uniforms could be mean

See, I don't even care about going to the games. I do most of my watching on TV because I can change the channel if I want, or watch multiple things if it's a blowout, etc.
Baseball isn't even interesting until the playoffs. I love playoff baseball.
The nhl expanding to the south over the northwest never made any sense to me, and with all of those teams doing really badly, it still doesn't make sense why we don't have teams here while they do. Have you ever seen a southerner interested in hockey?
Not a fan of the sport, but I'll take the extra work. What would their name be........
We could just go back to being the Buckaroos

It should be ice and snow related. We're bigfoot country, so what about the Portland Yetis?
Hell I'll take the Portland Oilers . . . as long as it means Portland is getting a hockey team. (Could you imagine how the name Oilers would go over in the NW, lol)
I'd be more interested in how fans in Edmonton would feel about it.
If they're going to use a nickname for the state/Portland, I hope it's not one that continues a stereotype about the area (loggers/lumberjacks/crappy weather)
