Bogus! Chris Mannix: Chauncey gone

It's interesting that the Blazers or Billups aren't dispelling this.

My bold prediction is by this time next week either Billups will be gone or his option will be picked up on the 5th year of his deal -- I am hoping he is gone.

I like Billups the player and wanted so much for him to work out but for a HoF player he kind of sucks at the X and O's side of things and since he was a PG that kind of surprises me.

Billups will probably return as the Blazers head coach next season. The Suns look like they will be hiring Budenholzer. Not sure why they didn't just hire him after during Monty. Hiring Vogel was stupid.

It would be funny if the Lakers hire Chauncey.

Was Bud already fired from Milwaukee when Vogel got hired? Not sure what happened first.

Bud interviewed in PHX before Vogel was hired.

My guess was Bud was the first option, but Bud declined because of his family issues and the fact that he was still being paid by the Bucks.
When Vogel bombed - they circled back to Bud

heck no, Coach was at the draft. He's excited to help the young Blazers lose early and often and often until this exact same time next year.

Lovely

Interesting he was at the lottery
Ok I didn't hear that, would be a big indicator there is nothing happening soon with Chanuncey departing the Blazers. If he was days/weeks away from having a buyout/firing/quitting no way he would go to the lottery.

I'm fine with Chauncey staying - honestly I'm probably leaning towards preferring it.

This team needs to get whatever value it can for vets and work to add more asset to a dreadful roster. Having to fill the leadership of veterans as well as a new coach staff all at once seems like a lot. It'd be better to just not have to deal with a coaching change as well this offseason. Maximizing the assets from sending out vets is 50x more important than any coaching dynamic long term.

Keep in mind the draft combine is also in Chicago this week

Vogel is rich. Was his contract guaranteed? What about Griffin's? Chauncey is getting shafted because Cronin won't let him go. Billups is stuck on a budget Jody deal with crumbled Olshey leftovers for a team.

When was the last time a coach was trade for another? Send Chauncey Billips to Detroit for Monte Williams? Is something like that even plausible? Could the Blazers get some draft compensation for taking on all of the extra salary?

And it might be a matter of time before Ayton gets Billups fired.

Ive always gathered that Ayton pouted and sulked because his teammates demanded he be better and more motivated.

Hopefully Ayton has grown up some.

The 2nd half of the season for us last year was very reminiscent of playoff Suns Ayton from a few years back.

Trick is keeping him engaged.
