I'm wondering about something:
it was said a few times in this thread that signed an extension for less money than he could have. Is that really true?
" The salary in the first year of a veteran extension may be any amount up to 120% of the player's previous salary5, or 120% of the estimated average salary (see question number 31), whichever is greater, but no more than the player's maximum salary in that season (i.e., the maximum salary the player can receive if he were to sign a new contract that year as a free agent"

CJ's 'previous' salary (last season) was $25,759,766
120% of his previous salary is $30,911,719. That would be his base salary and 3 years of his base salary would total $92,735,158.
he'd earn 3 max step raises of $2,472,937 which would total $7,418,813
that would make his base salaries + step raises $100,153,971. Is it just coincidence that CJ's deal is a 3-year/100M deal or did he get a max extension?
