Trade CJ McCollum to New Orleans

for what purpose? to ruin our lottery odds?

Because trades are the only realistic way to get top talent here. He sure as hell better not be planning on playing the weak-assed FA market this summer to accomplish his rebuild around Dame.

i think I'm gonna be far more interested in the play-in results than expected. As long as NO finishes 9/10, we get that pick (unless they have ridiculous lottery luck).

Maybe it makes sense why we just made LAC so much better now. Cronin playing 4d chess.

The Trail Blazers also play the Pelicans twice more this season. Lose to everyone else, beat the Pelicans.

Until it happens, I'm counting him. but sure, if he's dealt, maybe we'll have Kelly Oubre at PF and Watford at center. :dunno:

How bad are we going to get outrebounded

The Blazers just got a lottery pick and Josh Hart for CJ McCollum? I'm pumped. If you break it down to Hart for Nance (win) and an almost complete salary dump of CJ with a lottery pick this year and a 21 Million TPE, this is a huge move in the right direction. Nobody thought the Blazers would get out of CJs contract almost entirely and get a lottery pick. How this deal can be disliked is beyond me.

Jody doesn't own the Blazers.

This is a misleading statement.

Your statement is like saying the Buss family doesn't own the Lakers or Vivek doesn't own the Kings. Yes there are other legal entities or owners involved, as with basically all NBA ownership groups, but those are all legal technicalities for lawsuit protection, tax advantages, shares to minorities, or other owner benefits.

Jody is the person who get the financial benefits of the Blazers earning and appreciation, as well as having all ultimate decisions on actions of the team. If that's not ownership, then please educate us on what the hell is.

i think you vastly overestimate our rookie interim GM.

I think I’m the only person who is legitimately excited for the team now.
I am, this guy is workin it, with capspace available if we want it and a TPE and many teams in the tax it's not a bad place to be at all

Nurkic has a 18M cap hold. Simons has 11M. Add those together and we only have 10M of real capspace this summer. So that is out the door. Please move Nurkic and be done with this. We don't need him or that cap hold.

.....which is about what we would get with the Non-taxpayer MLE. lol this just gets worse.

Nurk for Plumlee straight up
Doesn't work but add in Kai Jones and the trade goes through. Also they should give us a pick for that because they're getting a lot better but it will probably be a 2028 conditional second rounder.

So what happens if we don't get the pick this year?

Just heard a report - 2 2nds and a lotto protected pick for CJ AND Nance? Oh yeah - also a bunch more players irrelevant to the goal of rebuilding around Dame.

Please just trade Dame. He doesn't deserve this.

Thought I read it on here.

Wouldn’t surprise me though
Some dude posted it to his twitter but he didn't have a check and it definitely wasn't Woj but for sure we should be trading Nurk ASAP.

+a lot

you can't have both. EITHER capspace or TPE.

Very likely we renounce all our exceptions come July 1.
TPE could theoretically be valuable come draft night. :dunno:

Don't forget that lotter status is not just about the record. 1-14 go to the non-playoff teams. The Pelicans could end up with a record in the 8-14 range and still lose their pick if they manage to win a play-in spot.

Being IN the Play-In, doesn't mean you aren't a Lottery team. WINNING the Play-In would take a team out of being a Lottery team. The Pelicans can be in the Play-In, and as long as they don't advance, we would get the pick unless they got very luck and jumped into the top-4.
