What's up with Canada? They have just as many guns as we do, but almost no problems like this? What is different?

But cops are fat and lazy and corrupt government union workers. Jesus I fucking hate this line of thinking.
Maybe we could start wearing yellow stars. Would that help you find us?
e:to clarify, i have had bouts of depression, and many in my family (mostly extended) as well. Where do you draw the line?
And then give them to all the kids.![]()

Bout of depression is way fucking different from being a sociopath or a schizophrenic. Have you ever had thoughts of going into a building and killing everyone?
My point is, in many cases these people have a history of mental illness and we just ignore it until they snap.
we probably shouldn't stray into humor in this thread.
Screams and the sounds of people being shot were coming over the school's intercom system at one point. Even the survivors are going to be deeply damaged by this. So very sad.

Switzerland isn't pure anarchy either, I would guess that certain areas of the US have less violence.
Washington D.C.'s gun control hasn't worked out too well.
In this situation, who do you arm?
Statistical anomolies, one and all. Fuck you, huevon.

You can't prevent a situation like this. There was a mass stabbing in China today that killed 22 small children. These are sick people and if they want to hurt someone, they're going to do it. The only way you can prevent it is by identifying the people before they hurt someone.
http://news.ca.msn.com/world/china-stabbing-spree-hurts-22-schoolchildrenHe said there were no deaths among the nine students admitted, although two badly injured children had been transferred to better-equipped hospitals outside the county.

"Long before Tuesday afternoon, when he killed two people, wounded a girl and then shot himself dead at Clackamas Town Center mall, Jacob Roberts had endured the death of his mother, a family betrayal, a fragile home life marked by mental illness and marijuana and a series of failed career plans that left his future unsettled. The warning signs are there.

Michael Jordan @RealJumpman 1 RT= $1 to the families whose children were killed in the Connecticut school shooting.
only 3 tweets and less than 2000 followers. I think that's fake.
The thing is, mental illness can be diagnosed at a fairly young age. I'm not saying we should heard them all up and put them in jail, but I do think it would be good to start treating them and keeping a close eye on them. I think it's especially hard for parents to see it because they don't want to believe that there's something wrong with their kids. It's totally understandable, but in this day and age we have to figure something out. Yes, guns are part of the problem because they are the weapon of choice, but the heart of the problem is the people who are willing to go into a school full of small children and start shooting. We need to get to the point where we can figure the WHY before it actually happens, because after the fact it's all just speculation.
