Seems like it all boils down to propaganda. One propaganda machine, talking about Trump and Fox news (so basically another propaganda machine).
I'm not attacking @SlyPokerDog at all, I hope he understands that.
Almost scarier than the virus to me is how much propaganda is going on right now and how much everyone being home has created a captive audience. It is just crazy that we're basically all just left to believe whatever numbers we want, to basically turn on the news and it's almost entirely one side or the other trying to politicize all that's going on. Who the heck do we trust...? The media, by and large, seem to be doing their best to tell the side of the story they like. We can't trust our government or the government agencies numbers, we can't trust really anything. We are all kind of left just trying to make sense of what's obviously a big deal and hope we get it right when piecing together the full story is almost impossible. They're just pitting us against each other to suit their needs.

Does our federal administration have control of the numbers being released/reported by the individual states?

Why even waste people's time with ridiculous false equivalencies?

all i know is that the president lies a lot. Do you disagree?

I was thinking of starting a new thread, but I decided to use this one instead. I know SlyPokerPanic has posted a lot of doom and gloom links, but here's one that is a little less ominous.

Not citing your post at all but I think we're probably all guilty of maybe reading a little bit too many articles...and much of it is biased, sensationalized, inaccurate, frantic, etc.,...and speaking strictly for myself, I'm trying to back off a bit from watching too many media reports. because it can get very confusing.

...TMI.

Deborah Birx is a fucking liar. I have both first and second hand knowledge of hospitals being absolutely slammed.

And over a thousand Americans have died without the president offering even a single condolence. Fuck this guy.

Deborah Birx is afraid of Trump. She's called him on his mistakes before and he got pissed.

Wow, that's fucked up and hurtful.

But fine, say what you want.

Yes, but that article you posted isn't being fair (so what else is new in these days). That guy that's referenced has zero credibility, but there are credible sources who are supporting the drug's use.

I'm not here to defend slipshod reporting by Fox. Just saying that the piece you posted is crap in that it tries to make it look like there's absolutely nothing behind the drug other than that dipstick.

Seems like it all boils down to propaganda. One propaganda machine, talking about Trump and Fox news (so basically another propaganda machine).

I'm not getting where you guys are seeing that article isn't being fair.

Here is what it is saying about the drug:

The unproven claim that an antimalarial drug can cure coronavirus - called a 'game-changer' and a 'gift from God' by Donald Trump - has been promoted by a crypto-currency lawyer who has made a string of bogus claims, DailyMail.com can reveal.

That is true. It's being tested as a treatment but not a cure. That's not bashing the drug.

The anti-malaria drug is now the subject of series of clinical trials, including in New York, where the state received 10,000 doses.

Again true. That statement is not bashing the drug and shows that it is being tested to see its effectiveness as a treatment.

It has been praised by Trump repeatedly - but the first time he did, at the White House last Friday, epidemiologist Tony Fauci stepped in to warn it was not scientifically proven to be effective and safe.

Again true and accurate.

Again, I'm not reading that article as bashing the drug.

What the article is exposing is someone, who does not have a medical background, is claiming that the drug is a cure.

Then the article goes on in depth supporting that claim.

Also Fox News and the Daily Mail are both on the same side of the political spectrum and the editor of the Daily Mail is the winner of the first Celebrity Apprentice.

The issue for me is that it gives the impression that that dweeb was the source that Trump was relying on when, in fact, there were credible sources that were reporting it. It reflects poorly on Fox that they used that guy as a source. It reflects poorly on Trump that he presented it as a game-changer when it hasn’t been tested. That said, nothing I’ve seen supports the notion that Trump relied on this report at all. It’s far more likely, IMO, that he was briefed on it as a potential treatment and then ran with it much farther than he should have.

I feel like it comes off as propaganda right from the title. It brings Trump into it as clickbait. Trump isnt responsible for how, “legit”, the people are who claim to support something he believes is good. He didnt just randomly stumble on their cryptosite and go hey that looks good - well hopefully... I think it just seems to drag Trump and all that into it for no real good reason.

Notice the title wasnt, “Drug being tested by Japanese is also being supported by scammy crypto-lawyer”.

Im not at all defending Trump you know my feelings, at least what Ive posted lol. Im just saying it comes off as propaganda to me, maybe thats not the right word, “clickbait” may be a better way to describe it.

My point following that was just I cant believe how much “information” is being passed around, and when you look at it in totality its not possible for it all to be true. (Just talking about the Corona-virus and COVID19), there is sooooo much crap being flung around and Im finding it harder and harder to Trust anything I see because all this crap just isnt adding up. It would be great if we had a trustworthy government, or the media or heck the scientists, but opinions and numbers and all that is so all over the place I think you can drive yourself nuts with this... In minutes you can find supposed experts saying this is like comet hitting the earth dinosaur extinction level event to, yup just go on as usual but maybe stand a couple feet apart now.

Trump has been tweeting links of this guy's interviews on Fox.

Except Trump has been retweeting the guy's interviews on Fox News.

If Trump is retweeting interviews of him that's supporting him.

So your issue is tweets?

No, I was just responding to their objections with the article.

I think I've been replying to their posts calmly, politely, and factually. If not I'll apologize because that it wasn't my intention.

Now if there is something I've said or done to you that you would like to discuss via PM that would be great. I think over the years we've seen 2 games together, had 1 dinner together and have gone to multiple forum events together so while you're free to insult me all you want it did catch me off guard.
