many people have been saying, myself included, that if surges require the 're-closing' of states and parts of the economy the economic damage will be more severe than the first set of closings for the states impacted.

we should have never have re-opened to the extent we did. It should have been more gradual and incremental, with time enough between stages to gauge the impact. And every politician at every level should have been cautioning to not abandon stat-at-home and social distancing. Also, the fucktard in the white house should have been strongly encouraging the use of masks, not ridiculing them
