OT COVID19: Who to Blame?

There are a lot of things some people did/said in the 60's but that was then, not now. For example, among other things, some freely used the "N" word to describe blacks and it was pretty much commonplace.

Time and intelligence allow for a change in judgement.

The Ebola virus was named after a river that was near by the place of Orgin.

My problem with Trump and his cronies repeatedly calling it the Chinese virus:

First of all, it is 100% unnecessary. The virus already has a name; covid19 technically, or more generically, corona virus. It has already been named, and the entire world is calling it that. The comparison to Spanish flue and the etymology of its name is non existent. There is absolutely no reason to cross out the word "Corona virus" and sharpie in "Chinese virus" and train your whole staff to repeat it ad nauseam, unless you are doing it for a reason. It's basically a way to look down on another country, create xenophobic connotations which help to further add to Trump's nationalistic and isolationist policies, and etc.

It's 100% unnecessary. And yes, words have consequences. People will be harrassed because of this.

I believe the virus is called Corona virus, the disease it causes is called COVID19. Yes people called it the Wuhon virus (on both sides of the media) a couple months ago, but now its clearly a political thing.

Chinese checkers were not named that for purely malicious/derogatory reasons. As I've said before, the reason Trump is relabeling the corona virus is so that he can inevitably deny culpability for our present situation and blame it on "China"...wait for it.

That was named Ebola by scientists and became THE name for it. The entire world called it that. The current pandemic is called covid19 or corona virus. The whole world is calling it that. That is already THE name of it. The only one calling it anything different is Trump and his team.

And, there is a lot 0f blame that should be assigned to Trump and his team for the lack of preparation here in our nation. I guess if you get your citizens to blame someone else, they won't be looking at your shortcomings. His deflection is incredibly transparent though.

Pretty sure that most everyone knows how/why this happened but it's not like their government actually wanted this to happened, not just because of the loss of life but it's really screwed with their economy as it has ours.

I'm not going to blame the people for doing something that their culture has practiced for years, even if they are guilty of being ignorant of the consequences of their actions. There is a difference between ignorance and WILLFULL ignorance (which is the difference between the people and the power in charge). Just my 2 cent. And even if you or others find it necessary to blame China, there is still no need for the leader of our nation to change the virus name to childishly rub it in China's face and also demonize it's people to our populace. Because our ignorant sorts will indeed start to punish and harass anyone who looks like they might be Chinese. Once again, the WILLFULL ignorance of our leaders vs the ignorance of a percentage of the population.

Also, why is Trump "throwing shade" at the Chinese govt.? Not because they deserve it (otherwise he would throw shade at Russia for their interference in US elections) but because he thinks it suits his interest, because it distracts idiots from the disastrous fuckup he's making. The narrative has to be set. The Chinese are masters at propaganda. They are trying to deflect, for what is their fault. Strong messages need to be sent.
