Dame asks for trade (And there it is)

I wonder at what point might we be able to use Dame's ego against him? Probably would be a behind-the-scenes conversation, but something like "Dame, how badly does Miami really want you if they're only offering us crappy contracts and draft picks 5 years from now?"

I consider myself a big Dame fan. I’ve always liked how he handled his game, his ego and his loyalty. What concerns me is we are seeing a completely different Dame. Demanding where he plays telling teams he’s going to sit out if traded there and basically screwing Blazers in any kind of trade leverage. Lost some respect and to be honest worried he was bullshitting us all along. I hope this ain’t the case easily one of my top 3 Blazers.

And please don’t say he hasn’t said anything…. Dame has approved everything his agent is saying

My shitty attempt at an analogy

Dame tells the bank he wants to sell his house for $10 million. Bank says ok but you can only sell it to Elon Musk for $6 million. Think he’d be pissed

That is a shitty analogy. For consistency, wouldn't the house tell Dame it wants to be traded, then Dame says OK, but then the house says the buyer has to be Elon Must for $6M because it loves weiner jokes and wants to see him plan out his extremely witty stunts like carrying a sink into an office like a jackass? Meanwhile, Dame is dealing with his chronic IBS in the bathroom?

I think that would be a better analogy.

Right...

"Dame, did you see what Durant got the Nets? He must be better than you?"

Yeah, I get that, but remember it's a two-way street between Dame and the Blazers. Throw in the Heat and their set of desires and you end up with the gridlock the deal is in today. I think it's pretty much human nature for fans and commentators to look for villains when you get to the place where a player wants out. I have no doubt that Dame was sincere in his statements earlier this year about wanting to make it work in Portland. I think the same is true of Cronin. The problem is that I'm also pretty sure that both sides realized that there were limitations to their commitment to those positions. Dame was committed as long as he could see the team moving towards building a contender within a year or two. Cronin was committed to Dame to the extent of trying to build around him, but not at the expense of the team's future backcourt stars. Once the Blazers got that 3rd pick, the handwriting was on the wall that there was going to be a conflict. Nobody's the villain here, in my opinion. Cronin's supposed to look out for the team's future. Dame's entitle to try to get what he wants as a future for the remainder of his career. The fact that he'd like to go to the Heat and they don't have the pieces in hand to give the Blazers fair value simply means that this is going to take awhile, and the involvement of some other teams, to work out.

Seriously, outside of Bum and Jimmy, what is the absolute best Miami can offer?

Not asking about what Riley wants to offer.

What is the absolute best we can get out of them?

In other words, if Miami were to play the part of Minny and we as Utah.

This question lets me know what Miami's version of throwing the farm looks like.

I'm interested to know because I'm curious if:

A. They simply don't have it, in which case, why we wasting our time on them?

B. They have it but they just don't wanna give it for Dame, in which case we should emphasize that to Dame.

Dame, do you really wanna go to a team that values you this little?

Best case...

Jovic

2024, 2028, 2030 picks from Miami
Herro traded to another team for a pick.

So three players and 4 picks.

ok attempt number 2

Dame invest $450 million in Bitcoin but when he goes to cash out they tell him they are giving him $300 million in Dogecoin

Nah, he's smart enough to know what he's worth. Bottom line, even though we're writing his checks, he's thinking like a member of the Heat and the trade return is like bail. He wants it to be as low as possible.

It's a shabby way to treat the fans who have supported him. If he were dumber, I would give him the credit of not understanding the collateral damage being done. However, he's not stupid. He knows exactly what he's doing. Clearly, he doesn't care.

Another comparison is that he left and wants to divorce his first wife to marry a hotter, younger version. Should that first wife, who has been dutiful to him all these years, just let him walk? There isn't a spurned woman who wouldn't take him for every dime they could. We need to be that first wife. F*** what he wants.

Dame would say, "It's not that they value me that little, it's that we still need to have a chance to win a championship AFTER they trade for me, as I mentioned on my podcast appearance."

Cronin press conference at 12:30

and also can't be included because they owe '25 pick to OKC

a lot of people are convinced it will be easy to convince OKC to give back that 2025 obligation. OKC might do it but they won't do it for free. And if they know Dame is joining Miami, they might not do it either, although that might make the unprotected 2026 pick more valuable

ok attempt number 2

Dame invest $450 million in Bitcoin but when he goes to cash out they tell him they are giving him $300 million in Dogecoin

How about this?

Dame owns $450M in bitcoin. It gazed longingly at Dogecoin, with its whimsical charm and carefree attitude, and couldn't help but yearn for a taste of its barktastically bizarre life. Like a stoic bull dreaming of becoming a shiba inu, Bitcoin desired to shed its serious demeanor and don the playful visage of Dogecoin. It imagined trading its slick suit for a goofy doge costume, barking at the moon instead of chart patterns. Alas, the world could only marvel at this peculiar desire, for even in the realm of cryptocurrencies, reinventing oneself is as improbable as a pug piloting a rocket to the moon.

Dame reluctantly says yes, but when he goes to cash out, he can only get $300M of dogecoin. The owner of the dogecoin is a slimy over the hill greaseball who keeps getting tech reporters to hype up the potential of useless dogecoin to try to make others think the exchange is fair.

I believe OKC and Miami already shifted the year once, for very little, so am sure they can do it again.

I would sure like to know what other teams have offered for Dame. Is Joe just waiting until point x in order to take the best offer, or has nothing been proposed that he feels is worthwhile?

Miami has a 2nd they can flip to them. OKC would be nuts not to take a 2nd and move the pick unprotected to 2026 in a draft supposed to be stronger than 25.

Plus, you'd have to think Miami is still a top 5 team in 2025.

Same here. I would've bet money he'd never pull something like this. I do not doubt the Dame we've seen all these years was true and sincerely him. Something really changed him recently. I guess it could be he simply got so frustrated that he felt the need to burn the bridge on the way out? Even that seems like a stretch. I can't help but wonder if there is more going on in his personal life.

Honestly this, other people have alluded to him having marriage difficulties and to be honest the way dame and co have been handling this situation it looks like someone lashing out at a loved one because they are going through something completely outside of what the actual situation is. It's frustrating and sad to watch tbh.

When it comes to packages offered, Joe serves the team best by staying silent. Only say "more" to other teams until you find your equal value. Vague is best. And NOTHING should be made public, even after it's dead.

You can speak all you want when he's gone, but his job is to troll the ocean, bring it up on deck, sort through it, and throw out all but the best deal.
