Dame asks for trade (And there it is) (4 Viewers)

I don't really care about the specifics. It's more than Dame doesn't want to be a Trail Blazer. He no longer wishes to reside in Portland. It's his life, it's his business. I get that he may wish to live in Miami, he has the financial means to do so in the offseason. Where he lives for his job may be a different place.

The unusual thing about his predicament is that he doesn't just have to divorce his wife and his family, he has to divorce his team. And his team has the majority of the say.

It stinks he no longer wants anything to do with us or our town, but it's his life. I think delving into any specifics is really none of my business. It's the result of his desires that matter to us.

I'm going today (Saturday)! Hoping to get there a bit after lunch. I went last year and it was a blast. Really looking forward to it. Stone In Love was my favorite last year. They're playing tonight at 9 pm.
 
Let's be careful talking about Dame's marriage. At this point there is no factual basis around it. It's just rumors and gossip. We may not be happy with him leaving, but stay away from the man's personal life, especially when we have no idea if the rumors are true.

I have all weekend passes. Its walking distance from my place. Stone In Love is also incredible. Sewn them a few times. Kevin, the lead singer, mixed and mastered my album. Jason fellman, the drummer, is the coordinator of harefest

Why? He's a public figure. It arguably relates to the Blazers.

We talk about whether players "want to live in Portland" all the time, and that's a personal thing. We talk about a player's knee or back or mental health, and that's all personal information.

Having some specific rule about "you can't talk about a player's marriage" seems arbitrary and sui generis.

The only reason why I’m at all interested in the topic is because I think it could explain why we are seeing this massive shift in character from him.

I hear you. I also think that it's helpful for things to be addressed (like where il gave us facts in the face of some internet chatter). We're adults here and should be able to kick ideas around without being treated like inhumans or grade schoolers.

Lol when I came out as trans three separate coworkers asked me to my face when I was getting a divorce. My opthomolgist asked me to describe a vaginoplasty ("the surgery") to him. Dame can handle a few people wondering if he's extra friendly with his stylist these days.

There is a difference and you know it. For one, it's not even known fact. It's fatuous to be spreading such rumors if they are indeed spurious. Despite our aversions to Dame requesting a trade, we shouldn't be besmirching the man's name, especially without sound fact, but anyway. There are places you just don't go. Ab respectus.

It means everyone is curious. This will not change. Dame doesn't need protection. He can literally hire the Pinkertons to beat us all up individually if he's so inclined, and still have $249,000,000 left over.

Now, if you say it'll affect the trade, then we can discuss it.

There is a difference in EVERYTHING we post. If you don't want to talk about it: cool.

If you don't want to talk about trade rumors (which are also not "known fact"): cool.

Unless I'm missing something, there's no rule against "besmirching" a public figure on this site (that's a judgment call, in any event, the same way saying a free agent doesn't like the city of Portland is). That you think there should be is just dandy, but (again, show me the rule if it's there) that doesn't make it so. And I don't think telling adults to "show respect" is helpful or fair.
 
I want to start off by saying I am sorry -- this whole situation has brought out the worst in me cause I am a HUGE Dame fan and to see some fans turn on Dame just made me a man on fire and I got a little out of control. I have already said this at least a couple times but will say it again and that is i am not upset at fans who like Dame but just think it's time to move on. However I am pissed with the fans who have turned on Dame and made him into the bad guy and now take every chance it seems to bash him after everything he did for this team in his 11 seasons as a Blazer. When I saw that it made me furious and I took it out on those doing the trashing and while maybe they deserve some of the what I said I do know I should have brought it back at some point and just let it go. It's for this reason I plan on giving myself a timeout from this forum for at least a week unless a Dame trade happens or some real legit news breaks then I might make a comment but unless that happens this will be my last post for a week starting today til Sun the 23rd.

I really hope the mods get control of this forum cause it has gotten out of control and I do take some blame but they need to try and stop some of the trolling and Dame hate cause it has gotten out of control. I am not trying to tell you how to do your job well maybe a little but it's done as my observation on how the Dame situation has brought out the worst in this forum. I wish everyone the best and will be back soon and GO BLAZERS

There is a big difference between talking about players not wanting to come here and talking about their marriage. I'm not gonna talk about his marriage. I have more respect than that. You do you.
