I know people want to fantasize about Portland trading Dame to a team that has a bunch of draft picks. But the ideas don't seem anywhere close to real world to me. The Spurs mention pretty obviously was a typo by Woj he quickly corrected. But people here are running with it without considering Why the Spurs would cash in so many of their rebuilding assets when they are right at the beginning of a rebuild
On the Lowe podcast they said that it was reported that, "Dame has a lot of respect for the San Antonio organization". Whether that means it's reciprocated or not I dunno, but it's not just a typo about who might be involved.

In terms of why San Antonio might do it: because you win with stars, and they might want to hit the ground running with Wemby having an older all-NBA-level guy to help him, and they know that the draft picks are capital that is intended to be used, whether through the actual drafting of players or trades. And adding 12 first rounders in the next seven years is almost literally impossible, so that means they plan on trading at some point.

The Blazers are going to want bad contracts that are expiring. KAT's another guy that makes sense by eating necessary salary but also would be an awful acquisition because he's overpaid, not going to help this team and his likely sulking will ultimately poison our locker room.

I don't think the Suns will deal Ayton, but him in Portland is a lot better fit. He wants to be featured and he would be here, and I think that's more important to him than being a championship contender at this point in his career. Ayton wants to prove he's a star. He can do that in Portland even if the Blazers are the worst team in history. And, if the Blazers overachieve, he'll feel vindicated even if he wasn't the reason the team outperformed its roster and coaching.

I think Dame would be an upgrade over Klay, so don't exclude them lol
At this point, maybe…

Their contracts match almost perfectly. Idk what their draft pick situation is like, but that could theoretically be done.

Biggest loser in that trade is Klay Thompson, lol…

Dame slots in nicely in that Patty Mills role.

Which is why I wanna do it lol fuck that guy, new dad has arrived

I would hope

actually my hope is Grant turns into a S&T in the next 5 days....but it's a faint hope

still, you trade salary, you have to take back salary

Second-year Sharpe, Ant, hopefully close-to-ready Scoot and Grant along with a good fit return on Damian, this is a better team than the past few years...

Grant will be so much better on a running team. However, we need two bigs that can board and play strong D.
Grant, Shae, Scoot can all get to the hoop.
Just dont see how Simons fits, we should move him for a board banger!

Don't confuse Cronin with one of the emotional fanboys in this forum. He's all about creating a team and has had the handcuffs removed. So excited to see what he and Chauncey build.
here come walter tavares!

I think people will realize by January that this is not year one of the rebuild.

He doesn't have any incentive to do it though. I don't think you can give a 5th year on a sign and trade. He wanted that 5th year.
That was before Dame asked out.

He has a choice - lotto for the next 2-3 seasons or have the 5th year of the contract

Went on a plane to paradise and woke up to this….. Dame goes in my mind as a Blazer when he is in the HOF but now we say good bye.

The trade should be to OKC or Houston for some of their young talent, salary filler and lots of picks. I don’t think he should be able to dictate his final destination. I think they should make taking Nurks $ a stipulation for a deal.

Cronin needs to play hard ball, if Dame was willing to stay quiet and let the Blazers find a deal and surprise the world then he could have had more say in his final place but since he didn’t then I say that the Blazers should do what’s best for themselves and their future.

I predict trade offers are laughable and Joe tells Dame I can't do it and Dame being a reasonable individual understands amd says, "ok I'll stay" and Joe proceeds to make win now moves with Dame.

If Miami wants Dame, Miami needs to either put together a three-way that is beneficial to the Blazers or pound sand.
Might be more enjoyable on Miami Beach than Astoria. But I guess that is a matter of preference, I’m sure some would rather pound Astorian sand.

If I were him I would consider it for sure. That way he can choose where he goes. But more than likely he will wait until it is signed, get the 5th year, and then ask to be traded at the deadline.
