Boy, it sure sounds like Dame wants to play on a Super Team.

Words are cheap with him.
Maybe just maybe you can't say words are cheap with a guy that stuck around as long as Dame did with such shitty roster construction for so long. Maybe he reached his breaking point with patience and when he couldn't have it his way (a championship here) he decided that he would try and force his way to the place that was the closest he could get to guaranteed rings. Everyone who is turning on Dame right now looks like a traitor to me. We all know that Joe didn't ever make the big swing he kept promising, we all know that when Dame said don't go young Joe not only used the third pick to draft someone young but to draft a young PG.

Oh and I think Dame knows what his contract says but this is business and there are a lot of ways to meet your contractual obligations and still work where you want to work and for who you want to work.

how ugly are we ready to let it get?

dame has 4 yrs left on his deal. he's not a FA where he gets to choose the ONE team he wants to play for. he waited too long in this offseason to demand a trade.

what leverage does he have? And are we past the point of no return on his demand?
This trade is EVERYTHING for us. We go to the mattresses, no matter how many bridges we burn.

Sure I can. Words are cheap. Maybe Dame has helped construct this roster, filled with his buddies and cousin. Maybe he didn't do what he needed to mollify Aldridge. Maybe we bent over backward to accommodate him. Maybe we kept CJ for too long because he was friends with Dame when everyone could see it wasn't working. Maybe we signed Grant to appease him. Maybe our roster isn't all on the front office. Maybe.

He's all talk in my book.

cronin has no spine. He will deliver lillard to Miami on a silver platter and take only scraps in return. If he wanted to appease normal Powell by trading him to his preferred location he will do the same for lillard. Trade him to whoever gives up the biggest return. Fuck trying to appease him he already asked out.

Agents have a way in engineering situations and relationships with owners.
No agent is going to steer his client here. In fact, I'm certain Dame's agent will threaten to never allow another one of his clients to sign. We need to leak this stuff publicly, air the dirty laundry. Call their bluff. We have to maximize value.

So LaMarcus ditching us is now on Dame... that's rich. The nonsense that Dame was the one holding onto CJ should have gone away initially just do to the fact that we traded Will and Plums but it was proven to be false when as soon as Olshey was gone CJ was gone too and Dame wasn't pissed in the least bit. I don't know why the team signed Grant... oh wait a minute they haven't yet, they could easily pull that offer during the moratorium but they've said they're not going to even though Dame is leaving... hmm it kind of looks like everything you're trying to put on Dame is bullshit.

I agree it is very important to not get steam rolled into a shitty trade. There are several good teams who could likely offer significantly better packages than Miami. This is a big key to the Blazers future to extract value for Dame, IF, and I stress iF, he is obstinate about playing hard ball to go Miami then me take it to the MAX. All gloves are off

All I ever hear is how Dame is in on every discussion, about how highly respected Dame is around the league, how everyone wants to play with him. Yet no one of note signs here. Other players are quite successful at recruiting their friends, yet somehow you let Dame off the hook. He's as much to blame for the construction of the team as anyone else.

If Cronin has no spine, and only tried to appease Dame, why do the Trail Blazers still have all their draft picks from 2022 and 2023?

I read a comment that if Joe was so cautious about not giving up to much on draft night to surround Dame with established star, why would he be quick to give in to, a shitty trade while Dame is asking out and where too?
I expect Joe to play some hardball and wait tell Miami can orchestrate a three team trade.

100% Dame was done dirty in spite of sticking with Portland for so long. I blame this whole situation on the FO.

But for some of us, it's hard to take his words at quite the same seriousness if he's truly demanding a trade to the eastern conference champs.
If that's the case, it sounds like maybe Dame judging people who were in search of a ring was more of a "you haven't walked in their shoes" kind of situation. He could come out and say, "as I get older, I see why people prioritize winning it all" and it would be different for me. I would see that as a change in perspective.
Leaving Portland is one thing... Demanding a trade to the Heat is the part that I feel diminishes his previous statements (as they stand).
Who knows, maybe Miami might have made it closer to a ring this year if their 20 ppg Herro played. Dame will quite possibly be what pushes over the edge for yet another ring, but he's not exactly helping a mid level team.

Yeaaaah if he only wants to go to one team that just happens to have 2 great players... It stifles all that talk he gave and throws out the 'coincidence' factor.

I'm trying not to lose my love for Dame, but this persistent insistence of wanting to go to Miami is souring me something fierce.

Perhaps it's been brought up before, but perhaps given the import of the negotiations that will need to occur, are there any retired execs we could bring in on a temporary basis to help Cronin on this deal? Someone like Geoff Petrie, for example? Not to evaluate talent, but rather to assist with the negotiation portion? Anyway, just spitballing.
for fucks sake. if you can't trust him with even the most basic function of the role, fire the guy.

i dunno for sure. twitter isn't loading for me now to confirm
He keeps deactivating and then activating. People usually screenshot his tweets. I haven’t seen any regarding KAT and us.
