Juicy nugget from Haynes:

these teams called the Blazers:

Clippers
Minny (around KAT)
New Orleans
Boston

Said they were all “eliminated” EXCEPT for New Orleans.

KAT is a much better asset than Miami's trash picks, Zion as well.

I like NOLA's young talent as well. Maybe something like this

All these trade scenarios are fun, but I can see that when the actual trade does happen, everyone is going to be pissed when it is not as good as some of these unrealistic proposals.

Haynes goes into the Dame trade request.

Dame was told on Tuesday they were most likely going to keep the pick.

On the Monday meeting Dame vented about not trading the 3rd pick - was unhappy about promises not kept. He was told we were going to trade the pick.

One last chance to improve the team via trade on FA day but nothing happened so he asked out.

Feels like Cronin/FO thought they could keep stringing Dame along and Dame finally had enough. Probably not surprised by the request, but thought they had more time.

Haynes also alludes to the fact that Dame didn’t ask out after the Denver series loss because of Chauncey - didn’t want to abandon Chauncey after getting hired.
Probably would have gotten a better haul two years ago.

This is where i am at

That comes across as a bit heartless, but I'm not sure he is wrong. If we had been even close to competing for championships, it would be a different story, but we weren't. So get what you can before the skills start to diminish relevant to the contract. Reset for the next era....it's the best thing you can do even though emotionally, the loss hurts.

Who’s more annoying to deal with, Morey or Masai?

They both have an incredibly inflated view of their players. In Morey's case, he has often found an clueless GM to deal with and he gets back a haul. Same with Ainge. Ujiri hit one pitch hard and shipped out a fan favorite for Kawhi and won a championship. Outside of that, there has been VERY little success, but he acts like he is Pat Riley.

this hurts a lot less than Clyde for exactly this reason imho. With Clyde the fans felt like we had one more trip to the finals in us, but without him that was impossible. With Dame the number of steps to get to the finals had seemed insurmountable to a good chunk of us for a few years.

You mean #FreeBam not confirmed? Fuck You!!!
:)

For those wanting Caleb, I dont think he'll be very good on a rebuilding team. He's 27 years old as well, so timelines dont really align either. I suggested going after him qhen he still was with Charlotte, that wouldve made sense. We should aim for Jovic and Highsmith, if we want players from the Heat.
Martin is a billups type of player and he would fit the defense scheme for billups.

This is what i want to hear!

Chris Haynes on Damian Lillard: “The Clippers reached out to Portland and tried to see if there’s a way that they can get into that sweepstakes.” … “Dame requested the trade and then all of a sudden he became the top target and kind of… I won’t say put a hold on the league, but it did cause teams to pause: ‘OK hold on, let’s wait on what we had planned, let’s look to see if we got a shot. The Clippers were one of those teams who did that, the Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Pelicans, Boston Celtics… yeah those are the teams that off the top of my head, and I’m pretty sure there were more, those were the teams off the top of my head that I know called out to reach out to see what it would take (to trade for Damian Lillard).”

Yeah, FU Miami!

Fentress trying to carry water. If Lillard did a nuclear option, all talk of loyalty goes to hell. If he screwed them like that with Portland having to take a crap deal, then goodwill is gone and his image is tarnished, IMHO.

Exactly. I have zero (0) issue in him requesting the trade. I welcome it and understand it. I have a one hundred (100) percent issue if he forces us to take a shit package. Man that'd piss me off for a long time. This ain't all about you bro.

Don't see how Clippers can come up with a package. No really good young guys and a dearth of picks.

Minnesota. Wouldn't take any less than Towns AND Jalen McDaniels. Also they just drafted Leonard Woods, would want him. can they now trade their 2024 FRP even though they already traded 2025?

Then they would have 2028 and 2030. Since they would be giving us McDaniels, I would be willing to give them back Kris Murray.

No contender in the League truly has a compensation package worthy of Dame's value. The teams that do have the assets are young, and don't fit that team or Dame's timeline. If Dame and the team can't reconcile , then it's best to move on sooner, than later. Dragging a decision out doesn't do anyone any favors.

It's hard to have less to offer than Miami, but the Clippers manage it. And after how they stiffed us on the Powell/RoCo trade, fuck them. Let 'em try dealing with Morey for Harden.

Good thing you can involve more than two teams in a trade, isn't it?
