Weren't the Blazers always up against the tax line? I know Mr. Allen had no problem going over it when they had a shot. I never thought they had a shot when NeO was GM. CJ, not Dame won them a game 7 in Denver to allow them to be swept in the WCF later. I have no idea with Mr. Allens passing if the Vulcans will allow them to "go for it" any longer. But I know Dames entire career in Portland has been playing for a GM that absolutely sucked. I'm not speaking of Cronin. Jury still out on him.

Nobody has said he’s the second coming of Jesus.

It’s not about getting value. It’s about getting fair value.

Dumping scoot for anything less than an all star was not good value. Why is this so hard to understand?

Listened to it when it was posted, just listened to it again. He said, "Once we push our chips all the way in.....". Where is the "lie"? How did you determine that the moment of chip pushing was already passed?

Perhaps that means that the drafting of Murray actually suggests that they were hoping to trade Ant and Nurk for the kinds of pieces Dame wanted, and have Murray be a contributing member of the contender they planned to build around him.

The Blazers will be Scoots team if it isn’t already. I just hope that Scoot and Sharpe will be able to coexist in the long run. You never know how these things might play out.

It is only not being truthful if Dame asked the question. Do you know if Dame asked the Blazers if they can win with him? I don't think the Blazers could win with Dame being the shoot first walk it up PG with little defense. He needed a strong front court player. Management was probably happy with the jersey sales and and butts in seats.

Agreed. That’s why I thought having Dame for a year or two would help. One day, we’ll have to pay both guys maybe around $50m in their first extension if they both pan out. Celtics have this dilemma with Brown and Tatum, and for all we know, Blazers don’t even achieve half of that success with Scoot and Sharpe.

That’s why I think it’s important to get the majority of the picks from the Dame trade be 2026 and beyond.

I see it as fools gold. When you are playing with a bunch of G-league players, someone has to put up points. Ant was it. Many here have false impressions of the scrubs that finished the season. Sharpe and Scoot will put up numbers if they start. Doesn't mean they are better than Ant either. It only matters when the games matter.

It's why Z-Bo was never an All Star here when he was putting up 20/10 numbers.

That video has nothing to do with promising to trade any pick other than #1.

I follow things exceedingly closely, and I don't remember anyone reporting that he ever made that promise. If there were a billion, it should be easy for you to find a link or two where it was actually reported, and not Cronin saying something different.
 
In Damian's age-36 campaign he has a $63.2 million player option that he will of course opt-into. I will say that IF (and big IF) that POR Brass decided to move on from Lillard then they are picking the 2nd best possible time to do that and still get good value back. Smart move if purely taking into account financial instead of emotional.

Off the top of my head, I don't recall anything similar to this trade demand. Maybe this is nonsensical, but is this setting a precedent that other gms might want to consider avoiding? It is kind of giving star players a road map to follow next time one of them is unhappy and want their way

It seems like it all depends on how it ends.

If Portland trades Dame to Miami for less than Miami could have offered, then I think it'll be something agents (and players) will try moving forward. Otherwise it'll either be a non-factor or even a cautionary tale to players.

Like LeVeon Bell sitting out a whole year, going to the Jets for a bit more money in the short run, and basically ending his career, sometimes players overplay their hands and it is possible that could happen here to Dame.
