Dame asks for trade (And there it is) (3 Viewers)

After watching Scoot last night, i don't care where we trade Dame at this point. Scoot is the real deal. As long as we get fair return.

If it's Miami, so be it. They aren't winning shit anyways. Dame may score on Scoot but no chance in hell he can guard him. Of course, i bet when they match up we see a much better effort from Dame Dolla on defense.

I've convinced myself part of the Dame equation is that we drafted his replacement and he wants no part of being overcome. It's sad to see it end this way. His time here and his career. Anyway you slice it, he's got three good years left.

Another thought that just came to my head:

They already got their money. An agent is only gonna do this if the client wants it. Meaning, the agent who is sending out this narrative is doing it on behalf of the player. Yes, that is obvious. But this isn't for money, the agent is already paid. Agents are there to get the best contracts for their client.

I find it very odd he's working overtime for just a destination. Agents shouldn't care where their client goes as long as they get paid.

All that to say, it makes it even more likely that Dame is running this narrative. It's all speculation, but there were days when Agents just needed to worry about the contract side of things, negotiating and such.

I feel like I'm stupid and this is SOP now, but even if it is, it feels real odd how hard they are going after it. Lends me to think this is Dame really just steering the ship.
Here's the thing, it's not just game salary that agents get a piece of. Sure, it's the bulk of it, but they're capped at 4% of salaries in the NBA (usually 3%, though Drew Rosenhaus famously takes less to get more clients). Endorsement contract fees (shoes, liquor, etc) can be 20%. Dame's advertising/marketing revenue is likely much lower on a middling team in Portland than it would be on a contending team in BKN, MIA, or other market where he's getting a lot of eyeballs in the 7pm Eastern window and a lot of playoff time. So yes, the Goodwins have a healthy financial incentive to not only get Dame to the East Coast on a contender, but also to keep the team he's going to as stacked as possible. (which is interesting, since they're from Oakland and rep a lot of the Oakland guys).

As an example, the Goodwins negotiated Lebron's first few endorsements (Nike for 90M being the biggest) as well as Durant's. Both fired them (for Paul/Leon Rose/Klutch in Lebron's case, Pelinka in Durant's).

This reminds me of when LaMarcus went to SA. He had said he wanted to go for the Blazers scoring title earlier (like a year before?) but when he saw that his place as The Greatest Blazer would only last until Dame overtook him, I think he lost the last bit of interest he had left in the team.

I only care about James hardens situation as it might relate to Dames situation. Which is why I'm posting it in this thread.

imagined statement by Morey:
"we can't find a good trade for you. I'm not going to trade you for Norman Powell and a first.
Your options are one: You can play for the basketball team this year in Philadelphia. Two: You can sit at home and maybe we'll try to do something at the trade deadline."

Scottie Barnes ... lol

"we'll trade our future All-Star and half our team + draft picks .... for Nurk and Lillard."

I don't speak Canadian, but that sounds like a bad trade

Just came across this interview from a few months ago and i think it's interesting to watch now

Damian Lillard On Why He Believes The NBA Is Changing For The Worse

Sly is actually Chris Haynes. Has anyone ever met Sly in person? I didn’t think so!

I'm going on a trip with Sly next month. Better not be Haynes. It would not be fun for him.

Would Toronto say no?

If it’s certain we get package of Jovic, Lowry’s last $30m, plus 3 1sts and a pick swap in 2029 with Herro for Dame and Nurk, I’ll take it. I would take 2 2nds for taking on Robinson’s 3 years.

The team that wants Herro will make a huge difference. The Nets have been one team I’ve heard that wants Herro. If the Raptors are interested, I think we could try to get Scottie by giving them their backcourt of the future. Scottie and a top 10 protected 1st + expirings for Herro and Ant, would they do it? Ant, Herro, OG, Siakam, and Poeltl could make some noise come playoffs, or Raptors could trade Siakam at the deadline and re-sign OG and look for their next PF.

I would try to trade Lowry for Brogdon’s remaining 2 years. I would also trade Robinson + 2 future 2nds to the Hawks for Capela.

=====
So next season’s roster:
Scoot(34)/Brogdon(14)/Mays
Shae(26)/Thybulle(14)/Brogdon(8)
Barnes(22)/Kris(20)/Sharpe(6)/Rupert
Grant(32)/Barnes(10)/Walker(6)
Capela(26)/Boucher(12)/Badji(10)
=====

With a decision to extend Barnes next summer. Capela and Boucher become expirings. Thad expires. Grant could also be gone. We also should have a lotto pick next summer.

This would also be our available picks (CHI 1st and 2 ATL 2nds pending):
2024 1st
2024 unprotected MIA 1st
2024 ATL 2nd
2024 MIN or CHA 2nd
2025 1st
2025 ATL 2nd
2026 1st
2026 1-10 protected TOR 1st
2026 MEM 2nd
2027 1st
2028 1st
2028 unprotected MIA 1st
2028 2nd
2028 GSW 2nd
2029 1st
2029 POR/MIA swap 1st
2029 MIA 2nd
2030 1st
2030 unprotected MIA 1st
2030 MIA 2nd

I’m rocking with this squad.
I hope you're secretly Joe Cronin because if you have the stones to offer that trade then I'd feel pretty confident that we're going to pull off some pritchslaps

Oh, I didn’t see it but that’s pretty shit if true. @hoopsjock also said pretty much the same thing.

...it's quite the lil spin narrative, but as others have pointed out -- very obtuse and gullible line of thinking for #TeamDameDiva :dunno: If only he could've kept everything private behind closed doors, then maybe the org would have had enough leverage to execute "contending" level trades/acquisitions (this goes back 2yrs when the rumors first started that Dame wanted out despite all his posturing). Sorry, not sorry, but I'm not buying this whole argument of the Blazers have been dicking Dame around. What's done is done now though so hopefully they come out of Vegas with some fair value framework for a trade to the Heat.
