Neither of them are very exciting.
They are the Cam Reddishes of centers. Sometimes they look really good, but they're not consistent at all and not worth paying extra money for.
I'd rather get a backup center that you know what he is going to give you night in and night out.
I'd take a chance on Wiseman. He is still only 22 and if we move Nurk, we could do a lot worse.

All of the points mentioned above, contrasting with TBPup's suggestion that they're a more appealing partner leads me to wonder if perhaps Duren might be the one in play... I refuse to let myself believe that's the case, but in looking at all the facts, it certainly seems like a square peg/round hole situation, OR, a "holy crap how did we get that guy" situation...

you must be incredibly high on Duren

IMO, if Duren is the centerpiece of a Dame trade and Portland is getting him instead of one or two first round picks they have failed

I don't want to move Nurk.
I don't understand dumping a skilled center for an unskilled one. It's removing a literally big threat for the Blazers on offense. Adams has trouble keeping Nurk from the hoop, and he's made of granite.

I don't want "chances" personally.

Scoot deserves players that are ready to play, not projects.

Scoot throws a perfect post pass, that guy better be able to convert.

I would very easily take Duren over any 1 first round pick w are likely to get in a trade.
Put up 9 and 9, and won't even be 20 until next season starts? He's already put in a pretty good rookie season, and is 10 months younger than the Thompson twins, a year younger than Brandon Miller.

*Edit*
I'll add, I don't think there's ANY chance he's be part of this deal.

Lillard wants clarity soon then later??
If he wants an answer now I'd tell him to be ready to play in Portland.
Not me, I would just tell him to tell his people to give me at least 2 or 3 other teams and have those people (Goodwin) communicate to those teams that Dame would like to play there. Then some shit can get rolling, then Dame and the rest of us can have some clarity. If Dame wants to stay with Miami or bust, he'll probably be waiting.

That part is obvious I thought.

I am talking about actions by the Trail Blazers.

Pretty sure Dame and his agent already know that.
What Dame wants clarity about is what's going to happen.
The answer by Cronin should certainly not be a trade to Miami.

I don't see the downside. He plays as many minutes as he can handle, he either improves or doesn't. He is a RFA next year so we see what the market has him at and a chance to match.

If he sucks we get another high pick next year to draft a small forward, power forward or center to put with Sharpe and Scoot.

I don't really want Nurk sticking around if we move Dame. Get as many assets for him as possible. Dude has a chance to be toxic if he stays.

I didn't say he'd be the centerpiece. I'm just trying to assess who we'd even be interested in from Detroit. By my process of elimination, its basically him, Killian Hayes or bad contracts, so by contrast, I'd be the most excited for him.

Still think the main pieces would be literally everything not named Jimmy or Bam from Miami.

What assets can we get for Nurkic?

Great point here (yes, it's obvious) that if Dame had just given Cronin TWO teams instead of one, the Blazers wouldn't be in such a bind to make him happy. Really a hostage-taking by Dame.

Haynes is saying Detroit may be in on getting Tyler Herro from Miami to help facilitate the trade. There are some reasons that might fit better for Portland, than what BRK or SAS can offer. (other teams that have been mentioned for Herro)
Maybe the Blazers can finally land Greg Monroe.

Who's the starting center for the Blazers?
Pleas don't tell me Wiseman.
It would be Wiseman. Like I said, if he works out awesome. We have him as a RFA and can decide if we want to match. If he sucks, we get ping pong balls and another cost controlled piece to put next to Scoot and Sharpe.

Sorry, Scoot deserves better than that.
The Trail Blazers should not do to Scoot what they did to Dame with Olshey.

Its his first year.

That's not the same thing as what Olshey did.

Small market teams need draft capital to get high level talent. Us missing the playoffs next year would be a good thing for Scoot to continue to have a higher chance at elite talent.

And again, Wiseman could improve and be a piece for us. He is 22 years old.

let's see....Philly, and Morey won't trade Maxey, like he promised he wouldn't. So, earliest 1st is 2030 and Harris

ok, I guess we need 3 teams. LAC? and they won't trade Kawhi, PG13, or Zubac; but Powell, Morris, and RoCo are available. 1st pick is 2028

well, guess we need 4 teams

After the Dame trade (or as a part of it), for filling out the roster, should we be looking at taking on some of the OKC players that they'll have to dump? I don't think they'll cut Ousmane Dieng, but he'd be a nice pickup. Usman Garuba might be an interesting reclamation project. Schmitz loved both of those guys.

I would suggest Money Changes Everything
Awesome song. Rockin' cover by some pros here:

"I said I'm sorry babe, I'm leaving you tonight.
I found someone new, he's waiting in the car outside."

Why wouldn’t New Orleans want to get in on this? I would much rather prefer a Trey Murphy and picks package than a Jovic/Jacquez and picks package. Maybe CJ is matching salary and we find a third home for him?

Lillard, Ingram, Zion is a nice trio.

Any chance Brooklyn would prefer CJ to Simmons? Simmons/Murphy and picks doesn't seem horrendous.
