Why wouldn’t New Orleans want to get in on this? I would much rather prefer a Trey Murphy and picks package than a Jovic/Jacquez and picks package. Maybe CJ is matching salary and we find a third home for him?

Lillard, Ingram, Zion is a nice trio.
Trey Murphy would be fantastic with scoot. I bet he would probably be a 45% catch-and-shoot three-point shooter. His true shooting percentage last season was was super.

The Nets signed Whitehead today but still haven't signed Clowney.

Trey Murphy is exactly the type of player that I would be looking for for the Trail Blazers.
Someone like Mikal Bridges was ( I'm not talking about defense so forget that comparison) who is underutilized and looks like he could contribute a lot more if he was given more shots.
An efficient small-forward-sized-at-least knock-down-three-point shooter.
It's possible that Jerami Grant actually could become that type of player, but it wouldn't hurt to have another one.
Edit: I want to murder the other team on offense.

If it's Miami without another team involved it's probably this:

Miami can also send;

2025 unprotected swap (w/ OKC pick changed to 2026)
2027 unprotected swap
2029 unprotected swap
2028 2nd round pick
2029 2nd round pick
2030 2nd round pick

If the Blazers can get a 2025 or 2027 1st in a 3 way that swap(s) can be guaranteed. Most likely the Blazers would get the best two pick those years and Miami the worst. If Blazers can't get those 1st in a 3 way then it's possible one of those swaps doesn't happen if Chicago gets the Blazers pick.

I don't know what it all adds up to but as long as Miami is paying through the nose.

Maybe there's a way for the Blazers to trade away the lesser of their own or Miami pick in 2028 or 2030 to acquire a 2025 and 2027 picks.

Then do swaps with Miami on those 2025 2027 picks.

It doesn't actually cost a 3rd team any picks, it just ensures the Blazers have more chances of higher picks, possibly into the high lottery. Could maybe flip some 2nd rounders to the 3rd team.

They can’t….

The only move is either convincing OKC to take another asset to trade back the pick OR they just accept Miami’s 2026 and we get 2024, 2028 and 2030. If OKC keeps 2025 they can’t trade 2024 or 2026 because of the Stepian rule.

I'm seriously at the point where I'd let Dame just sit out the rest of his career before I'd trade him to Miami. I'm so sick of their media and their fans.

I'm hoping that Cronin will still take a good deal from Miami if one presents itself. You're talking about cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Dude, their assets are so ass that I don't even care. Jovic is mediocre. Jaquez is a role player at best. Their picks are most likely going to be crap. That's why I'm firmly in the "make him wait" camp. But if we missed out on Miami's deal.... are we really that worse off? We're not talking about adding a Mikal Bridges.

How much would the Nets like to be done with Ben Simmons? Would this work for them and would it work for us? This would happen after the Heat free up their 2024 pick and after the 30th of this month so JJJ is available.

This is what I have been saying.... Miami is lowballing us.

I would bet the offer right now is Lowry/Robinson/2 picks.

I just think if you get anything close to fair value for Dame then you make the trade... if we get two quality players and four picks then we'll be good. You can argue that Jovic and Jaquez are quality players, especially for a team in a youth rebuild like ours.

If it's Lowry, Robinson, and 2 FRPs then yeah they can rot in hell while Dame rots on our bench. I just don't think it will come to that. I really hope that Joe is hunting offers from other teams and not just waiting for them to come to him.

That's just not happening. Even in our best case scenario, we're not getting within a mile of fair value. Jovic and Jaquez are not fair value for Dame. There is a very good chance that neither of those guys will make it in the NBA. We are sitting on the precipice of the worst superstar trade of all time.

Even if it's Herro, Robinson and 2 picks, that's still a horrible trade.

I don't think it would be "the worst superstar trade of all time" if we got two prospects (that you are low on but I'm not) and 4 unprotected FRPs. I am hoping for more and like I just said I hope Joe is burning up the phones trying to find better deals, either just to pull the trigger on or to leverage against Miami.

They have to free up that third FRP, they have to give up young players with upside and either we or they have to find the best return for us on Herro.

Sure, 4 picks would be nice, but I'm saying that if Miami is trying to play hard ball and they're just tossing some crap package at us with 2 picks and a couple players, that would be the worst superstar trade of all time.

Well said!

Was listening to Steve Smith & some other absolute dumb-fuck on NBA TV last night. These idiots were talking about Cronin’s presser yesterday and, how, “he was just trying to drive up some sort of semblance of trade value” and “leverage”… since, you know—and I quote—“Miami is in the driver’s seat & has ALL of the leverage here.” They kept going on & on & on about how they would only have to offer the equivalent of a couple of half-eaten shit sandos for Dame & how we had no choice to accept their shit-bird offer. I would MUCH RATHER Dame sits out the next three seasons, declines his PO in year 4, AND walks without any compensation, than take back their herpes-laden package.

:mook:

I'm with you and I think Joe is with you. After Miami let guys go and is now inactive in free agency they can't afford to not pick up Dame. We are the ones with the leverage and the closer training camp gets the more nervous Miami has to get.

I'll say it again, I hope Joe is calling other teams and soliciting from them what he thinks Dame would be worth to them. If he secures the right offer he should just pull the trigger if he wants or he could take it to Miami to see if they could beat it. We need to be patient but we also need to be aggressive right now.

Agreed and the key for me is getting back a player for Herro, not necessarily a pick. I am not expecting a star but he should bring back one good player.

As long as Cronin is comfortable taking Dame into next season ALA Harden in Houston, Harden in Brooklyn, Simmons in Philly etc. the Heat have no real leverage. Blazers don't have anything to lose by waiting.
