I honestly don't think that's a bad package. As Lowe put it: "it's palatable". If Brooklyn isn't putting Claxton on the table I don't know what else any team would actually offer.

But they should absolutely not settle for anything less than the best package Miami CAN offer.
The best offer Miami can package is fine - but its nothing like that tweet of two picks and one prospect. Its 3 unprotected picks plus 2 unprotected pick swaps, and Caleb Martin, three 2nd rounders, and both Jovic /javquez. Yeah I probably settle for letting them keep Martin or keeping some 2nd's, etc; but it should be pretty damn close to their max offer, not that lowballed crap.

4 firsts + both Jovic/Jaquez. Blazers will hold out until they get both. That's probably the best package Miami can offer. It's fine. I wouldn't do anything less though.

Miami can also do 3 pick swaps unprotected and Caleb Martin and three 2nd rounders. I'm not saying they have to include all of it, but what you list certainly isn't the "best package Miami can offer"

Who else is there to blame? Dame is the one who gave Joe a list of one team. Dame's agent is going around and telling teams not to trade for him. Who else is there to blame????

And I hope that Joe doesn't take it. Everything he's saying is that he's willing to wait.

Kyrie's agent did the same. Same with Leonard and Donovan Mitchell.

Guess what?

The GMs had the cajones to get the most value for them regardless of where the player wanted to go. He doesn't have a trade clause. Dame can be traded anywhere and nobody really buys that he'll sit out or cause a shit storm.

Dame and his agent are fine, they can request this or that or blab their mouth for whatever. Joe is the one who will decide to accept or not accept an offer. If he accepts a shit return thats entirely his fault.

Why Matisse and not Kris Murray? We got Kris from Josh Hart who came in the CJ deal.

At the time everyone said we got fleeced. It turned out good, but again that's because Dame recruited Jerami. Cronin COULD have negotiated to get the better of the Pelicans' pick that year and didn't. The details matter.

I'm not sure Grant will be considered a good trade now or especially in 6-24 months. I'd much rather have Duren on a rookie contract than Grant earning $160 million.

I guess if the Blazers had been able to build a winner around Dame last year or this summer the Grant acquisition would be fine. But then why all the other rebuilding moves that led to a shit tanking roster.

Well, that's two separate things.

Dame and his agent are to blame for the bad offer.

If Joe accepts the bad offer, that's on him.

I don't think Dame has it in him to sit out and leave millions on the table. If he didn't show up for training camp the Blazers can just fine him.

If we hold our ground the list will expand.

I don't think the millions have anything to do with it, he's like Durant and wants to hoop, he also has a lot of respect for people and teammates. I'm sure he has a lot of mixed feelings and sadness about asking out. I'd tend to think he'll expand the list close to training camp and push to get this done but if it came to it he rejoins the Blazers as awkward as that would be. I think he actually hopes for all the best with Scoot and would want to mentor him, but would prefer to do it from another team or privately as Roy did with him.

I think Grant is superior but I'd love to get Duren with Scoot and Shae for the rebuilding of this foundation. Remember though, Detroit took back salary to get Duren. Our ownership group would have never signed off on that.

We can only take one (2029) because we owe our pick protected to Chicago all the way to 2028. The wording makes it unclear whether we have a 1st round pick in any of the years between now and 2028, so we can't technically swap our picks between those years.

Given how loose everyone's lips are from Dame's side, if the deal really was done already, we woulda found out already

I have never seen the media so divided over a subject. There's Dame's guys and there's ESPN. But it seems like only Dame's guys are attacking the credibility of the other side.

And maybe he would show up. But if he didn't, he is a moron leaving all those millions on the table by keeping his list at 1 if he really doesn't want to be with us anymore.

We took more salary back in acquiring Grant....

Incorrect, we can do 2025 and 2027 swaps they would just be conditional. Its guaranteed one of them would be in full effect since we can't lose both 2025 and 2027 picks. Its very possible, if not likely, both swaps would be in effect.

Additionally if we get for example a 2027 pick from Brooklyn or another 3rd team for Herro we can guarantee the 2027 swap will fully be available.

he'll probably claim the Blazers can do a provisional swap. Portland can ante up a lottery pick with the remote chance Miami would have a higher lottery pick

You also would not have Joe saying "it could take a while".....if it was done. At least one of the tweets he listed from Woj.... was from July 1st? That is almost two weeks ago.

Dame is currently in DR, a short hop from South Beach. He probably planned the trip for his bday this wknd and wanted to be close to MIA if a deal happened. Too bad for him that it's not that easy.

Not anything significant that extended past the season. Pistons had to eat Kemba Walker's deal which I believe had multiple years left.
Incorrect, Walker was signed in 2019 to a 4 year contract which ended last month in June.

So the Hornets gave up a lottery pick just to get rid of one year's worth of salary to Kemba Walker?

And people think Jordan knew what he was doing when drafting Miller. LMAO.

If we get screwed in this Miami deal my opinion on Dame is going to sour. Really liked how he represented himself just hope it wasn’t all one big BS job. Don’t screw up everything you built in Portland only to turn around and be everything you said you despised

I believe Kemba was on the Knicks and they used the cap space to sign Brunson. Yeah the Knicks gave up the Duren pick but got that 2025 Milwaukee pick and with signing Brunson its kind of a rare big win big win move for both teams involved.

Blazers are probably the team that lose in that deal; getting stuck with Grant and having to give him $160 million - no Duren and no 2025 pick.
